This shrub rose has 5 petalled, cup-shaped, cerise pink flowers, with yellow centres, that bloom from July to September and fill Rose rugosa 'Rubra' with colour. The flowers have a lovely scent, and later in the year, these are replaced by scarlet red rosehips, that provide autumn interest, along with the foliage that turns from greeen to yellow. A Red Japanese Rose is a nice plant for cottage and oriental style garden borders. Best planted in a sunny position. Height and spread: 1.5m (5').
