Cherry Bush Porthos
  • £19.99

We are still completely blown away by this, when we stumbled across this new concept of fruiting Cherry trees one drizzly winter's day in Northern Holland in 2016. It is revolutionising commercial Cherry cropping. This is simply a completely new way to grow cherries, one which were it not for the persistence of an enthusiastic breeder may never have seen the light of day. It is simply the first bush cherry, as opposed to a tree, so forms a nice neat clump of many fruiting branches right from the base - and as a result does not get too tall, and makes picking really easy - as well as netting from pesky birds. It still has fabulous sweet flavour to rival market leading 'Stella', it yields well, and is 100% self-fertile, and has the iconic spring cherry blossom too - so makes the perfect garden cherry. If pruned hard each summer, it can be kept very compact, and can even produce big crops of fruit. Be one of the first to see what all the excitement is about...

Courgette All Green Bush Seeds
  • £3.99

A classic courgette, 'All Green Bush' is a reliable, quick-growing and high-yielding variety that will crop all summer long with regular harvesting. One plant will typically produce 6-10 fruits. Its compact habit makes it ideal for growing in pots or containers, or the seeds can be planted directly in the ground where they are to crop. The dark skins are tender so are great when cooked whole. For the best flavour, harvest as baby courgettes at about 10-15cm (4-6in) long. If not eaten immediately, they will keep well for a few days stored in the fridge. Alternatively, allow one or two fruits to remain longer on the plant to form marrows, which are just lovely when crammed with vegetable or meat stuffings and baked in the oven. Courgette flowers can also be eaten; use them as soon after picking as possible for best results. Try them stuffed with herbs and soft cheese, then dipped in batter and quickly fried, or wilt them in hot olive oil to add to risottos and other savoury dishes. Quick to mature and easy to care for, this is a great little vegetable to get children interested in gardening - as well as for anyone who just can't wait to eat the fruits of their labours in the garden! Supplied as a packet of 20 (approx.) seeds ready to sow indoors in pots or outdoors direct into growing position. Sow indoors March to May for planting out in May to June; or sow outdoors April to May directly into growing position in full sun, 60cm (24in) apart, in fertile, well-drained soil.

Kitchen Bay Bush
  • £24.99

The Kitchen Bay, Laurus nobilis, is thought to have been first cultivated in the 17th century, and has been a herb garden essential ever since. These evergreen shrubs have aromatic leaves that are a culinary staple, bringing mouthwatering depth and a rich aroma to everything from soups, stews and curries to Bolognese and roasted or barbecued meats. They're best when plucked fresh from the bush and simply added to the pot whole and left to infuse. Fresh leaves have a lighter, more floral flavour than dried leaves and can be kept in the fridge. If dried, they have a more intense flavour. They should be removed before serving unless they're ground or chopped. Bays are often grown in pots and respond well to training into topiary shapes. However, their lush, glossy and dense foliage makes them ideal for hedging and they make excellent structural features in formal gardens. They require little more than a light trim in early spring and summer to maintain the desired shape and will happily grow in sun or partial shade in well-drained soil. They're also well suited to coastal locations. Fully deserving its coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure that this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, to be enjoyed for many years to come. It is also recommended as a 'Plant for Pollinators', attracting bees and butterflies with its small lime green spring flowers. Supplied as an established plant, 80-100 cm tall in a 20cm pot, growing to a height and spread of 10 m (33 ft) if left unpruned.

The Chelsea Fig Bush
  • £29.99

Many Londoners know of a fabulous and fruitful Fig Tree, growing on the banks of the Thames where Chelsea Bridge meets The Embankment. Each Summer its huge crops are joyfully plundered - either by flocks of parakeets high up in the tree - or cheeky human scrumpers lower down where it can be reached. Either way, it produces huge crops of figs every year. So well-known is this specific tree, it even featured as the main hideout in William Boyd's novel Ordinary Thunderstorms. Fruit grower Will Sibley knew of this tree, and had tasted its fruit. he took samples away to analyse, and concluded it was a chance seedling - a single and unique tree like no other variety grown. So good was the flavour and yield, he set about propagating and grafting trees to sell from it - and here we are now selling them. Now called 'The Chelsea Fig', every single tree is identical the one by the river. Get yourself a piece of London history and folklore, and grow them in your garden. Supplied as an established plant in a 4.5L pot, ready for immediate planting.

Cornus alba, Tamarix tetandra, Spirea douglasii, Forsythia intermedia 'Spectabilis', Hypericum Hidcote, Deutzia scabra, Berberis thunbergii 'Atropurpurea', Philadelphus coronarius, Weigela rosea. Please note: These plants are supplied dormant and without leaves, looking more like dried twigs, and will establish in the ground over winter. They will not show signs of growth until the weather warms in spring, when they will burst into leaf. Supplied as 12 freshly lifted 2-year-old bare root bushes, 1 each of the 12 varieties. Top Tips- On receipt, soak the roots in water for at least 2 hours (overnight is better). If you can't plant straight away, they should be fine for up to a week if left in a cool, dark, frost-free place - keep the bag around the roots with some water inside. Don't worry if the roots have been cut quite harshly – this is done to encourage the plant to grow.- Bare root plants are dormant, with no leaves, and with the roots out of the soil.- The season runs from November to April, depending on the weather. Some larger or slower-growing plants will already be a few years old on supply, and ready to thrive straight away in your garden.Care Guide- Select an appropriate spot for your plants, making sure that you give them enough space to grow to their full size.- Dig a hole twice the width of the roots, forking over the bottom to loosen the soil, and add some good quality fertiliser such as Blood, Fish and Bone.- Aim to plant at the same depth as the soil mark on the trunk.- Holding the tree or plant upright in position with one hand, slowly backfill the hole with soil, and gently shake the plant, so the soil falls back around the roots.- Use your heel to compact the soil around the plant to ensure good contact around the roots.- If you are planting into pots, place some old rocks, stones or gravel in the bottom of the pot for drainage and ballast. Use the best compost you can buy.- When the soil and air warm up from late March onwards, you should see the plant burst into life.- Do not allow plants to dry out in the first four months after planting. Once established for one season, they will become much more tolerant to a lack of water, as the root system develops.- There is no real need to prune for the first 2 years, then prune to the shape and size you want. Remove any broken, diseased or crossing branches in late autumn or winter to control size.- Prune established trees in summer using good-quality secateurs, removing weak shoots, and cutting out those that cross over each other, to create an evenly spaced bowl shape.Planting Time:October - AprilFlowering Time:March - OctoberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. Its vivid, burnt-orange flower buds open up into incredible smoky chocolate-brown blooms against its large dark green foliage. Each flower is accompanied by an intense old-rose fragrance that will fill the air! This rose is very easy to grow and disease resistant so despite looking exotic, its perfect for beginners! Winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it is always popular and sells out, so please order early.Top Tips- To prune, just remove any dead, dying, damaged and diseased stems and also deadhead regularly. Traditionally, you would cut just above a leaf joint with a sloping cut away from the bud, however, this isn't necessary, and don’t worry about pruning too much - roses are very resilient and will grow back. When pruning, make sure that your secateurs are clean and sharp to prevent squashing stems and introducing disease. Add mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help the plant establish quicker.Care Guide- Roses can be planted at any time of the year, as long as the soil is not frozen, waterlogged or drought-dry.- Plant your rose where it can get plenty of sun for at least half of the day, and where it will be sheltered from the wind.- Roses tolerate wide range of soils but thrive in deep, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, so add plenty of well-rotted manure into the hole if necessary and plant so that the graft union (the swollen area when the stems meet the roots) is around 3cm below soil level.- Water well every other day - daily if the weather is hot and dry.- Established roses can be watered around once a week through spring and summer - more if the weather is hot.- For best results, feed roses in late-March/April and again in late July.Planting Time:October - AprilFlowering Time:May - OctoberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire.
