Johnsons Carrot Purple Sun F1 Seeds
  • £2.85

Appetising, crispy and sweet, this is a new improved hybrid pure purple carrot producing an intensely coloured dark uniform carrot from the skin and right through to the core. The roots are pointed and the variety has a strong disease resistance. Early sowings require protection with cloches and when harvesting, select alternate young carrots from the row, allowing the remainder to devop fully. Keep well watered to prevent the roots splitting. Seedlings appear within 7-21 days of planting and if continuous crops are desirable sow every 2-3 weeks. Remove soil from roots and store in dry sand. Root vegetables boast a host of colours and flavours and include carrots, radish, horseradish, sweet potato, turnip and beetroot. Their low rate of metabolism allows for a relatively long postharvest life. Thanks to their high water content, they are key ingredients for a low fat diet. This wholefood is well suited for all cooking options: grilling, mashing, roasting, frying and even in soups. Don't skimp on sunshine when growing them!
