Rainbow Bush
  • £13.99

The Rainbow Bush (Portulacaria Afar f. Mediopicta) is a slow growing succulent shrub. It has distinctive red stems which are adorned with little light green leaves that are heavily variegated. With so much colour con-trast, and the intertwining stems as it matures, this is a feast for the eyes when grown. Speaking of growing, this stemmed succulent is particularly versatile and easy to grow. Plant it outdoors in warm climates and it can grow into a dense, 4.0' tall shrub. Keep it indoors in a small pot and it will stay a petite, bonsai plant. However, with all succulents in the UK climate they like to be kept warm during the winter months. So, bring indoors if you are placing outdoors or keep it indoors in a warm place all year round. Light and Water Keep in direct sunlight, bright light or bright indirect light. In Summer water thoroughly only when 100% of the soil has dried out. After watering allow soil to dry 100% - water sparingly (every two month). Spring gradually increase watering - depending on temp and light expo-sure.

Courgette All Green Bush Seeds
  • £3.99

A classic courgette, 'All Green Bush' is a reliable, quick-growing and high-yielding variety that will crop all summer long with regular harvesting. One plant will typically produce 6-10 fruits. Its compact habit makes it ideal for growing in pots or containers, or the seeds can be planted directly in the ground where they are to crop. The dark skins are tender so are great when cooked whole. For the best flavour, harvest as baby courgettes at about 10-15cm (4-6in) long. If not eaten immediately, they will keep well for a few days stored in the fridge. Alternatively, allow one or two fruits to remain longer on the plant to form marrows, which are just lovely when crammed with vegetable or meat stuffings and baked in the oven. Courgette flowers can also be eaten; use them as soon after picking as possible for best results. Try them stuffed with herbs and soft cheese, then dipped in batter and quickly fried, or wilt them in hot olive oil to add to risottos and other savoury dishes. Quick to mature and easy to care for, this is a great little vegetable to get children interested in gardening - as well as for anyone who just can't wait to eat the fruits of their labours in the garden! Supplied as a packet of 20 (approx.) seeds ready to sow indoors in pots or outdoors direct into growing position. Sow indoors March to May for planting out in May to June; or sow outdoors April to May directly into growing position in full sun, 60cm (24in) apart, in fertile, well-drained soil.

Kitchen Bay Bush
  • £24.99

The Kitchen Bay, Laurus nobilis, is thought to have been first cultivated in the 17th century, and has been a herb garden essential ever since. These evergreen shrubs have aromatic leaves that are a culinary staple, bringing mouthwatering depth and a rich aroma to everything from soups, stews and curries to Bolognese and roasted or barbecued meats. They're best when plucked fresh from the bush and simply added to the pot whole and left to infuse. Fresh leaves have a lighter, more floral flavour than dried leaves and can be kept in the fridge. If dried, they have a more intense flavour. They should be removed before serving unless they're ground or chopped. Bays are often grown in pots and respond well to training into topiary shapes. However, their lush, glossy and dense foliage makes them ideal for hedging and they make excellent structural features in formal gardens. They require little more than a light trim in early spring and summer to maintain the desired shape and will happily grow in sun or partial shade in well-drained soil. They're also well suited to coastal locations. Fully deserving its coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure that this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, to be enjoyed for many years to come. It is also recommended as a 'Plant for Pollinators', attracting bees and butterflies with its small lime green spring flowers. Supplied as an established plant, 80-100 cm tall in a 20cm pot, growing to a height and spread of 10 m (33 ft) if left unpruned.
