Scatter the bulbs through grass or wooded areas and plant them where they fall for a naturalistic effect; or place them in a shady spot at the base of a hedge or around the bases of trees, where they will naturalise easily, just like in the wild. Reaching a height of 25cm, this truly native British bluebell makes an attractive addition to garden beds and borders - a punchy contrast to other spring-flowering bulbs or perennials and a great choice for a traditional cottage garden feel. Seen in some of the swankiest gardens across the country, lavender 'Hidcote' is the classic, hardy English Lavender, and will transform your garden with colour and incredible fragrance! The silvery grey foliage and pure purple blooms are packed with a heady scent and will provide you a colourful spectacle from early to mid-summer. 'Hidcote' is one of the most aromatic varieties, grown widely in the fragrance market, yet is a great garden variety too. The purple flowers are also a magnet to bees, butterflies, and other beneficial creatures, which will have your garden buzzing with wildlife - literally! Growing up to 60cm tall, a hedge of traditional English lavender can be used in many ways. Try planting it around beds, borders, or paths, to divide up parts of your garden or to make an eye-catching parterre or knot garden space plants 30cm apart. Once established, a lavender hedge is extremely drought tolerant. Keep it in great shape by pruning twice a year; trim lightly in mid to late summer, removing spent flower heads. With this easy-care evergreen shrub, you will have year-round interest too. It can be grown in pots as it is slow growing and very hardy - everyone can make space in thier garden for some holly! Holly forms an almost perfect pyramid of glossy, spiky leaves with vivid red berries on pollinated female plants. It's ideal too as a hedging plant where its prickly form provides ample deterrent against intruders. Fully deserving its coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure that this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come.
