Prune new shoots to a bud facing in the direction of the desired growth.Care Guide- Bay trees will grow in any well-drained soil in a sunny position, and thrive in containers, as long as they are kept well-watered.- Use a soil-based compost, such as John Innes No 2, with extra grit added to improve stability of the post and help drainage as bay roots dislike sitting in wet.- Add controlled-release fertiliser granules to the pot or use a liquid feed every two week from mid-spring to late summer.- Check plants and repot every two years in spring so that the soil does not become exhausted and stale.- Bay can withstand temperatures down to -5°C, but frost and cold winter winds can damage the foliage so protect plants with fleece if temperatures are likely to fall below this. Expertly grown in standard 'lollipop' form, it is a stunning evergreen tree with the most incredible flowers throughout summer and into autumn. These unique blooms give the plant its name, exploding in profusion and looking just like bright red bottlebrushes. Bees, butterflies and a host of other insects will find the nectar rich flowers irresistible too! The young foliage is flushed with pink before maturing to dark green, carrying a lemon fragrance that's released when you brush past it or crush the leaves, and in this standard form, this Callistemon will look superb all year round. Callistemon with thrive in a warm, sunny location and is ideal for bringing height to beds and borders, and a real statement when planted in pots on the patio, or either side of a door, this is an outstanding addition to your garden. The fabulous golden yellow leaves of Choisya 'Sundance' (or Mexican Orange Blossom as it is sometimes called due to their small white fragrant flowers in spring), glow bright golden yellow in spring and summer, yet remain neat and tidy too. And they are ever-yellow too - they remain bright yellow all year, even in winter, so offer a real year round feature.
