Top Tips- Add Rootgrow Mycorrhizal Fungi to give your plants a head start and establish more quickly.Care Guide- Apply a slow-release fertiliser such as blood, fish and bone in early spring, and mulch to retain moisture.- For the biggest, juiciest plums, thin the fruits in May by removing some of the smaller, immature fruits. Then in July, while the plums are still hard, remove any that are damaged or diseased or touching others.- Water regularly, and don't let the soil dry out if planted in pots.- Hang wasp traps in trees and harvest crops as soon as they ripen. Avoid leaving windfalls or over-ripe fruit on the ground.- Prune trees in late in July when they're in full growth. For young trees, take back the new upright growth by about a third. Directions for use: Note: 1 gloved handful contains approximately 35g Apply evenly to the soil, preferable when it is moist. Lightly incorporate into the top surface of the soil. If conditions are dry, then water the pellets in. For established trees planted in the gardenSprinkle pellets evenly beneath the spread of the plant at a rate of 105g per square metre - 3 handfuls. For trees in potsIn early spring, sprinkle a handful of pellets evenly around the base of the plant and lightly incorporate into the soil and water in well. Apply a further handful in June.
Vitax Tree & Shrub Planting Feed contains all the vital plant foods in a natural, organic form for the best possible start when planting trees and shrubs. The recipe of perfectly balanced nutrients are ideal when planting both bare-root plants and potted speciments. This specially formulated feed also contains mycorrhizal fungi and a range of bio stimulants to promote vigorous root growth which in turn helps plants to establish much more effectively. Directions for use Note 1 gloved hand is approximately 30g Apply evenly to soil at the rates recommended when the soil is moist. Planting trees and shrubsFor 15-20cm containers take 60g feed and sprinkle past into the bottom of the planting hole and lightly fork it in. Mix the rest of the feed with the soil taken from the hole and then backfill around the plant. For larger containers, use 60g feed in the hole and 60g for mixing with the soil for backfilling. Feeding established plantsIn March, apply 60g for plants up to 60cm (2ft), 120g for plants up to 120cm (4ft) and 180g for standard trees. Spread the feed evenly into the soil below the canopy. Repeat late June-early July. For apples, pears and plums apply 175g per square metre.For Currants, Gooseberries and Raspberries apply 140g per square meter.For roses, apply 140g per square metre.
Containing all the major plant nutrients plus magnesium and trace elements, making it the perfect feed for tree ferns in pots and planted outdoors. It's also an ideal feed for indoor and outdoor palms, bamboo, grasses and other ferns. Tree ferns thrive in a sheltered, humid and shaded position, in humus-rich soil, gaining nutrients from decaying vegetation that falls from the forest canopy into the crown of the tree fern. Vitax Tree Fern and Palm feed replicates this process to maximising growth, maintain colour and ensure a strong, healthy plant. Watering and Feeding: The trunk and crown of tree ferns will not tolerate drying out, so water regularly to ensure that it remains moist, and spray the trunk with water during hot or dry weather; this will encourage the tree to send out roots. After roots have established, you can commence feeding, applying the liquid feed to both crown and trunk every 7-10 days during the growing season (from April to July). How to use: Measure 1 capful (20ml) and add to 2L of water. On an already wetted trunk, slowly pour the mixture into the crown and allow it to overflow and soak into the trunk. A thick layer of organic mulch on the ground surrounding the trunk will help feed the plant slowly and naturally. Feed palms, bamboos grasses and other ferns using 1 capful in 2L of water every 7-10 days while in growth.
