This new garden peach tree really has it all - giving interest from early spring through to autumn and the promise of a crop of juicy peaches! In early spring, the blossom appears, and the bright-pink, saucer-shaped blooms are produced in abundance. Also known as Heavenly or Sacred Bamboo, Nandina will bring a bright flash of dazzling colour to your borders or patio pots, making it invaluable in winter when there's little colour around. Not unlike a colourful version of our own native holly, Nandina has a bushy upright habit, with toothpick-straight stems making it an excellent candidate for containers - and this particular variety has amazing variegated leaves which give off a sultry pink glow. As it's evergreen, Nandina retains its foliage throughout the year and the colours change as temperatures dip, taking on deeper and more saturated hues. A true multi-season feature plant, in spring new leaves emerge flushed pink, green and cream, then in summer, small creamy-white flowers are followed by green berries, before the leaves develop more colour and the berries turn sealing-wax red - just superb! You can now grow deliciously sweet peaches here in the UK! 'Redhaven' is an August fruiting variety with lusciously sweet yellow flesh that melts in your mouth when you bite into it. Its self-fertile, like the majority of our fruit varieties, so will crop reliably for you and needs no other tree in order for it to produce fruit. The gorgeous, sweetly fragrant pink blossom looks a picture in springtime, but ideally needs a little protection from late frosts. Ideally, plant your tree against a south-facing wall and cover with fleece when in flower in the spring; this is not to protect the tree itself, which is totally winter hardy, but to give the blossom maximum protection so it has the best chance of full pollination. The warmer the position of your tree when its in blossom, the busier the bees and other pollinating insects will be, resulting in delicious peaches for you! 'Redhaven' also makes a lovely potted specimen for your patio, allowing you to position it favourably when necessary. You can then really make the most of the fragrant spring blossom and perfect summer fruits.

There really is something special and iconic about English Shrub Roses, which is the term for the old-fashioned type of classic rose with a very filled centre, their petals making the most remarkable patterns. New breeding over many years has made them much easier to grow in all gardens - big or small - either in larger pots or in borders and beds. This variety has been bred to have both a good fragrance, and superb disease resistance - not always possible with roses, but our growers have managed it! Best of all it is a repeat flowerer, and will bloom for 4-5 months with little dead-heading, although you may wish to keep them tidy. It's a little more vigorous and less formal than Hybrid Tea Roses, so mix them in with other shrubs in borders too.
