Acer palmatum ' Extravaganza ' is a Japanese maple with beautiful purple-red leaves that have distinctive broad white and pink stripes. They give the plant a striking appearance, taking on a triple-coloured cloak of foliage that will light up dull areas of the garden. Then, in autumn, the leaves turn to red before falling in an inferno of vibrant colour. With beautiful, filigree leaves and a gently spreading habit, this Japanese Maple is a slow growing shrub that reaches just 150-170cm (60-67in), it's the perfect specimen for containers on the decking, patio or balcony and for those of us with smaller gardens and its easy to grow too, so there's no excuse for anyone not to give it a go! Best planted in semi-shade for the best leaf colour, Extravaganza will tolerate sun as long as it's not direct, bringing an air of peace and tranquillity to wherever it is planted. Fully winter hardy, it's the ultimate in low maintenance plants, needing very little in the way of pruning except to remove any damaged or dying branches. Supplied as an established plant in a 3L pot, ready for planting out. Grows to 150-170cm (60-67in), plants are dormant in winter, so no leaves from approx. October until March.

Also Perfect in a large patio pot, it produces masses of white pearlescent blooms through early spring making a truly remarkable spectacle in the spring, hence the nickname 'Pearl Bush'. Exochorda x macrantha 'Niagara' is happy in sun or dappled shade in any well-drained soil, Exochorda is relatively compact, only reaching around 150cm x 150cm, so is ideal for small gardens, and can easily be pruned to further reduce its size. A magnificent and stately Agapanthus with unusual, bi-coloured blooms - a striking combination rarely seen in African lilies and definitely an eye-catching and unique variety. A plant that you really need for your garden, this recent introduction from Europe has been met enthusiastically by everyone who sees it, and it's easy to see why. The good-sized clusters of flowers open from white buds, developing into gorgeous trumpets with rich blue bases and white flaring tips to the petals - they look just like a firework display going off in your flower beds and pots. The flowers emerge on top of robust stems from the luxurious, sword-like leaves and put on a great show from mid to late summer and they're great for cutting - plus the dried seed heads can be sprayed and brought into your home over winter. Relatively compact for an agapanthus, 'Twister' looks fabulous in a pot on your decking, patio or balcony, so is ideal for people with little space - if you only have room for one plant then this is a definite contender for your attention! Although this variety is half-hardy, it does not like cold wet weather, so we recommend covering with a thick layer of dry mulch in winter if planted out, or if kept in a pot, moved into a dry, frost-free area if the temperature drops below -5. Supplied as 3 x established plants in 9cm pots, ready to plant out.

Agastache is an upright, bushy hardy perennial with a long flowering season that blooms in spikes that rise from the foliage on stiff triangular stems. The aromatic foliage is mid-green and serrated with heavy veining, resembling catmint. Agastache is a member of the mint family, and the leaves can be used to make tea. Although many varieties of Agastache flower in shades of blue and lavender, 'Apadana Orange' bears clusters of golden orange tubular florets that completely cover the top 10cm its flower spires and open from the top downwards between May and September. Recommended by the RHS as a 'Plant for Pollinators', they are a favourite with butterflies and bees and other beneficial insects, and they make great cut flowers too! Preferring dry conditions, Agastache loves to grow in full sun and poor, well drained soil that's moderately fertile, so it's happy growing in dry conditions such as gravel gardens and coastal locations. It looks fantastic in a patio pot, perfect if you have heavy, rich soil. It is also very hardy and requires no additional feeding. Supplied as an established plant in a 9cm pot, ready to plant. Reaching a height of 50cm (20in) and spread of 35cm (14in).
The Pitchoune range of agapanthus has been grown to have a much more compact habit than most others, but still retaining the large flower clusters and sturdy stems of their taller cousins. Like all agapanthus, Pitchoune varieties love rich, well drained soil in full sun or partial shade, and they tolerate drought well. Although hardy to -5°C, some protection will be needed during the coldest winters. Provide a thick mulch in autumn to protect the plants again the hardest frosts, or bring container grown plants under cover. Supplied as an established plant in a 9cm pot, ready for planting, growing to a height of 30cm (1ft) and spread of 50cm (1½ft).
