Ligustrum, or 'Privet Laurel', is the absolute gold standard in topiary and standard form trees and shrubs. The exceptionally small and tight growing leaves create a dense network of stems, making for easy cutting and shaping. Ligustrum, in fact, form the basis of the most exotic and stunning topiary creations, yet also make wonderful standards, lollipops and globes too, as a better alternative to Box (Buxus). Very forgiving of all weathers, they may lose an odd leaf in coldest winters, but recover quickly in spring. Trim regularly in growing season, or allow them to grow a little and they will produce sweet scented cream flowers, followed by berries. Perfect in pairs aside doorways, gates and paths, or allow them to grow and get creative and make your own shapes too.
Forget the traditional pastel mophead Hydrangea beloved of sea-side gardens - this sister species, Hydrangea paniculata, really is in vogue at present and 'Little Lime' is one of the more compact and free flowering new releases, perfect for any size garden! What's more, because it branches so well and flowers on younger plants, it is the ideal variety to grow on a standard stem, providing a wonderful rounded head of foliage and flowers that is easy to clip and maintain to that sophisticated shape.Stunning as a feature plant placed in borders where it will stand tall above all else, or perfect for pots and containers where it can be placed by a gateway, doorway or on a patio to add a touch of elegance.Flowering in summer into early autumn, 'Little Lime' will bring colour late on in the year when the rest of the garden has begun to fade. The lovely flower panicles open bright zesty lime-green, then fade to a creamy shade which produces a unique pink tinge too, which then last well into colder months. Grow in pots or in garden soil, trim head to shape early in season before new growth and allow to flower.
No, your eyes are not deceiving you - this amazing hardy Hibiscus standard tree actually does have 3 colours on the same tree, and will stay that way too. Hibiscus are often propagated by grafting, and the clever nurserymen have here grafted 3 individual different colours - blue, pink and white - to the top of the standard stem. Usually they would graft 3 of the same colour, but in an experimental moment, created this delightful result. And vitally, all 3 varieties have been selected carefully so they grow at similar rates, and no one colour will dominate the tree. This is a more reliable method than the sometimes offered 3 colours plaited together. All they need is an annual trim to shape, and they will stay in this lovely mix for years. Hibiscus syriacus is totally hardy in the UK, but thrives best in hot, sunny spots, and responds well to heavy feeding, especially trace elements. Flowering in August and September, prepare to amaze your friends and neighbours with this horticultural wonder!

This new variety is the perfect magnolia for a small garden or for patios and terraces, with a neat compact habit that is very easy to grow and care for.In early spring bare stems are smothered in blush pink feathery flowers which open from rose pink buds. The petals are narrow, a little like 'Stellata' but with a beautiful pink tinge to them and an even more wonderful fragrance. What's more, blooms are much more resistant to late frosts than other magnolias.Mid green leaves appear after the flowers, creating a beautiful ornamental tree that will become a feature in your garden all year long - especially in this standard form, creating a ball of flower and foliage atop a long straight stem. Ideal for adding height to displays, this standard form adds structure to beds and borders and is perfect for creating a feature in a decorative pot on a patio.Easy to care for, it needs little pruning except a light trim to keep shape. It likes a sunny spot but isn't too fussy, tolerating most soils and, being fully winter hardy, you needn't worry about it over the winter.A twist on the classic Magnolia tree, this standard is wonderfully unique, eye-catching and a winner for any garden.
The Butterfly Candy Collection of Buddlejas are especially dwarf and compact, reaching only around 80cm in height so they are perfect for small spaces or even containers.
The gorgeous blooms of 'Catawbiensis Grandiflora' are produced in extravagant clusters in May in a wonderful mauve-blue colour with yellow and orange freckles, making this a striking Rhododendron. The striking flowers contrast beautifully with the glossy, dark green leaves that cover this vigorous shrub all year, growing into a rounded evergreen shrub after a few years. 'Catawbiensis Grandiflora' definitely has an exotic look and will look spectacular either planted in blorders or in a large pot as an eye-catching specimen plant. Rhododendrons are low-maintenance shrubs that will perform superbly provided you plant them well and keep them well-watered. Lovers of acid soil, they mostly prefer bright to dappled shade or partial shade, avoiding morning sunlight which can damage buds. As Rhododendron roots are shallow, spreading to sides in search for nutrients, they shouldn't be planted too deeply - remember that they often grow in shallow cracks on mountainsides. Soil does need to be on the acidic side and rich in humus, cool and always moist which will allow established plants to withstand direct mid-day and afternoon sun. Supplied as an established plant in a 21cm pot, reaching a height and spread of 2m (6½ft).

Rose 'Yellow' produces large, yellow flowers and blooms continuously from early summer to autumn. Rose 'Pink' beautifully demonstrates how the perfect rose should look. Its single, perfect buds are held over glossy green leaves from May to October.
