Bears Paw Fern Phlebodium Blue Star Indoor Plant 12cm Pot
  • £9.99

Not your ordinary fern, the Bears Paw Fern (Phlebodium 'Blue Star) is an attractive and vigorous houseplant with a subtle deep blue-green leaf colour, looking almost like an exotic indoor seaweed! Evergreen, it does not lose its leaves and retains its wonderful colour all year making it a decorative and striking plant to decorate your home. As the plant grows, the fronds develop finger-shaped lobes as they mature, held on long stems and looking very much like an outstretched paw, hence its more common name of Bear's Paw or Rabbit Foot. Easy to grow and look after, your Bear's Paw will tolerate low light. As a natural inhabitant of tropical rainforests, Phlebodium does like its humidity high so is perfect for a bathroom or kitchen where it will thrive in a bright spot, out of direct sunlight. An interesting and unusual fern, Blue Star is also perfect for cutting and flower arranging so don't be afraid to conjure up your inner designer! Supplied as an established plant in a 12cm pot, growing to around 30cm x 30cm. Please note that the decorative pot is not included.Care GuideKeep the compost moist (but not waterlogged) at all times except winter when plants are dormant and water can be cut down (but do not allow to dry out so that the compost shrinks from the side of the pot). If you can't place it in a humid atmosphere like your bathroom you can still grow this plant, just mist the leaves regularly with water and or place the pot on a tray of damp pebbles. Keep your fern at 18-25C. Feed with a general-purpose plant food once a month. When watering, pour water around the sides of the plant, as pouring it the middle can cause water to get caught at the bases of the leaves, which can result in rot. This product is offered for sale for home delivery exclusively via our website only. Everbearer Strawberry Buddy
  • £12.99

'Buddy' is recent introduction to everbearing strawberries and is taking the supermarket world by storm. Now we are delighted to be able to offer it to the home gardener to grow themselves. Everbearing Strawberries are great for spreading strawberry fruit production out. Starting slightly later than the Wimbledon peak, they have a big yield in mid to late July, but then keep going through August - peaking again in September and continuing to crop until first frosts!  This makes eating and using the crops easier, not one huge glut! Everbearers have historically not been quite as good on the taste scores as traditional 'June bearers', but 'Buddy' breaks the mould here. It produces big fruit with great taste, and is the sweetest of any everbearer to date (winning many taste-tests), hence its popularity with supermarkets.  And it is a great cropper too - commercial trials showed almost 1Kg per plant in year 2 and 3 (just over 2 pounds per plant). 'Buddy' also has good mildew resistance too, so suits home garden production, where none of want to use chemicals if not needed. Let Buddy become your best friend in strawberries this year.

Everbearer Strawberry Sweet Summer
  • £9.99

Here's a great new strawberry variety that's just packed with flavour! 'Sweet Summer' gives a heavy crop of large conical berries which are firm yet superbly sweet and juicy.  It's an 'everbearer' variety which means the plants are not affected by day length and so just keep on cropping right through summer and into autumn, often as late as the first frosts, each one giving as much as kilo through the season so you'll pick loads from this pack of plants. As the growing plants produce few runners they stay nice and tidy and are perfect for container growing too.  Plants are not troubled by disease and very easy to grow. If you are looking to pick sweet juicy fruit throughout the warmer months this is the perfect strawberry to choose.

Supplied as 1.2m (4ft) tall, fully mature trees in 6.5 litre pots.Top Tips- For best results, bring indoors to cool area for winter.- Feed with specialist feed every month in spring and summer growth - they are hungry fellows.Care Guide- The sweetly-fragranced flowers appear all year round, especially in late winter, and fruit ripens up to 12 months later - so plants are often in flower and fruiting at the same time.- Citrus tend not to thrive in centrally heated homes, so from mid-June to late September, give plants a treat and transfer them outside to make the most of the available sunshine - but remember they are not frost tolerant so will need bringing under cover if cold nights threaten.- In summer, water freely - ideally with rainwater, while in winter you can reduce the amount - allowing the surface to partially dry out before watering again.- Always allow excess water to drain away as overwatering in winter is one of the commonest problems, so err on the dry side.- Only minimal pruning is required to reshape or remove dead or damaged shoots.Planting Time:April - AugustFlowering Time:March - AprilFruiting Time:September - OctoberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire.
