A popular, classic variety which produces huge reliable crops of long pods with 6-7 delicious, large green beans each. Beans must be picked regularly while small and tender and note that any surplus is well suited to freezing for winter use. Pods can also be picked when they are immature to be cooked and eaten whole. Both outdoor and indoor sowing possible but note that plants may require support in exposed locations. Easy to grow and versatile, peas and beans make a delicious and nutritious addition to any meal. As well as being a traditional side, legumes also provide a terrific source of protein for a vegan diet. Peas and broad beans prefer cool conditions but need to be grown in full sun or partial shade. This is the fastest maturing variety of any broad bean and an early spring sowing will out yield all others. Broad Bean Express produces up to 34 good pods per plant! It is also winter hardy, outstanding for deep freeze as it does not discolour and probably for the same reason is particularly tender and tasty. This neat little Bean is slightly taller than the well known variety 'The Sutton? but equally good for growing in patio containers. Having been bred as a gourmet crop, the beans are delicately flavoured, and provide an excellent source of folate, fibre and vitamin B.
