Whether you are looking for a splash of colour or a gorgeous houseplant, then this easy-to-grow amaryllis (or Hippeastrum) is just the plant for you. Even though they usually flower in early spring, amaryllis are best known as a house plant for Christmastime, so plant them from mid-October for festive blooms. They also make a wonderful Christmas gift, so your friends and relations can plant them and look forward to a stunning indoor display to brighten up the long days between winter and spring. This bulb is supplied ready to sprout leaves and burst into flower - all you need is a sturdy pot, some good-quality compost, water, and a little care to raise a fascinating flowering plant. Planted and kept in a warm room, they will bloom in around 6-8 weeks and provide interest throughout as the stems steadily emerge and blooms unfurl. This large bulb will produce one or two strong stems, each bearing three or four dazzling red trumpet blooms. Why not plant several bulbs together in a larger pot for a stunningly unusual display - or to have plenty for cutting as a trendy addition to a modern floral vase or arrangement. Supplied as a large bulb, size 26/28, ready to plant up.
Planting Instructions:The perfect solution to planting bulbs with the minimum of fuss and disturbance to other plants in your borders.Simply fill the bulb basket with soil or compost and evenly space the bulbs to the recommended planting distance, gently pushing the bulbs in to the soil to just cover the base.Dig a hole in your border or in your container to the correct depth, place the basket then replace the soil.
