Bulbs generally prefer to be stored dry.- Remove loose soil, carefully pull or cut off dead and dying leaves and leave to dry overnight. Dusting with fungicide will help keep the bulbs healthy.Care Guide- Summer bulbs should be planted in spring, when the soil is beginning to warm up and directly after purchase.- Your bulbs will enjoy a warm, sunny position, in fertile, free-draining soil. Heavy, clay soil can be improved by digging in 1-2 buckets of coarse sand per square metre.- To plant, dig individual holes for each bulb or a trench if you're planting in groups. Place bulbs in the holes without pushing down hard. Make sure the growing point is pointing upwards, then cover with soil.- Use the bulb as a guide and plant it two or three times its depth. Space them approximately two to three bulb widths apart.- Many summer bulbs are ideal for growing in patio containers, especially the more tender species, which can then be stored over winter.- Store the bulbs in dry paper bags or trays of almost dry sand in a frost-free place.Planting Time:March - JuneFlowering Time:June - OctoberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. Crocosmia Lucifer - 10x Bulbs
  • £11.99

This product is offered for sale for home delivery exclusively via our website only. The images represent established plants, the supplied product may be younger. All heights listed are approximate and fully established plant heights may vary. The amount of foliage, buds or bloom on the plant will depend on what part of the season the product is purchased. Please see description below for full product details. With its brilliant red flowers this fantastic Crocosmia (Montbretia) really stand out in you garden. Masses of bright red flowers are produced in freesia-like sprays in midsummer. This is a vigorous plant with sword-shaped, pleated, mid-green leaves. It is perfect for planting in large groups, bringing heat to your borders or in pots which will overflow with its arching leaves and stems, and the flowers are also excellent for cutting. Choose a nice sunny spot and that isn't too dry - although can tolerate periods of drought once established and will naturalise if happy where they are. That said however, in general they will thrive in any conditions moist or dry soil, full sun or shade, shelter or exposed spots requiring almost no maintenance. Ideal for busy gardeners. Hardy perennials (to at least -20C), crocosmia are some of the very easiest plants to grow. With the flowering stems reaching around 1.2m (4ft) tall, they are perfect for the middle and back of borders. Over the years the bulbs will multiply freely, so you'll be able to dig up the clumps and split them to spread them around the garden. Supplied as a pack of 10 bulbs.Top Tips- Plant in groups for the best effect.Care GuidePlanting Advice for your Crocosmia:- Corms should be planted like any other bulb and are easiest to plant if you just dig a hole about 10cm (4in) deep and space a handful about 2cm (1in) apart. This will give you a good-sized clump straight away and you can lift and divide clumps as they expand.- If you prefer a more spaced display, then plant them in clumps in groups of 5 about 10cm (4in) apart. If your soil is heavy, add some horticultural grit to the planting hole.Aftercare Advice for Montbretia:- Water well and regularly.- Mulch corms in winter to preserve moisture.- Lift and divide clumps in spring if flowering diminishes.Pruning Advice for crocosmia:- Cut back dead leaves in spring.Planting Time:March - AprilSeptember - OctoberFlowering Time:August - SeptemberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire.
