Forest Pansy Cercis canadensis
  • £14.97

Cercis canadensis, the Forest Pansy, is a medium-sized deciduous multi-stemmed ornamental tree grown for its wonderful foliage. In spring, just before the leaves appear, clusters of small, pea-like flowers open on the bare stems. These are usually pink, but sometimes dark crimson or white, and are followed by stunning, heart-shaped leaves that grow to 12cm in width, and are a fabulous, deep red-purple colour, making this tree really stand out! In autumn the foliage changes colour to flaming shades of orange, red and purple, making this tree one of the most spectacular that you can plant for foliage colour, and it gets better and better every year. Cercis will thrive in moist but well drained soil, in sun are partial shade and is drought tolerant, making it very easy to grow for most gardeners. With its almost year round interest from flowers and foliage, it won't disappoint. Fully deserving its coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure that this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come. Supplied as 3 x established plants in 9cm pots, ready to plant and reach a height and spread of 8m (26ft) in 10 years.
