The seed heads look particularly attractive in winter and the seeds provide food for birds, so no part of this plant is left to waste. The foliage of Juniperus chinensis (also known as Juniperus x pfitzeriana) 'Blaauw' has an unusual blue-grey tone. Its colouring makes this dwarf conifer stand out in rockeries and other sunny or partially shady parts of the garden. Alternatively, the Chinese Juniper can be grown as a specimen plant or tree. Blue Wisteria dripping off porches, archways and the frontages of country cottages is a wonderful sight of spring and early summer and fills the air with sweet heady perfume. Wisteria grow vigorously and can reach heights of 10m if left unchecked but can be pruned to restrict if space is limited. The plant is easy to grow - just give it in a sunny spot with support to allow the twining stems to climb - trellises and pergolas are perfect for this.
