Pure white flowers in late winter contrast with bright evergreen foliage, making Erica x darleyensis f. albiflora 'White Perfection' a great choice for the front of the border or rockery. It's good for wildlife too, as the flowers provide a valuable source of nectar early in the year. Unlike most Heathers which prefer acid soil, this Erica x darleyensis cultivar will tolerate almost any well drained soil, where it will gradually form spreading clumps of weed-suppressing ground cover. It has the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height: 45cm (18). Spread: 60cm (24).
Perfect for rockeries, alpine gardens and stone planters, Erica x darleyensis 'Darley Dale' is a winter flowering Heather, that looks superb planted alongside dwarf conifers and other varieties of heather. It has hundreds of small, pale pink flowers, when in bloom, that fill the compact, evergreen shrub. Erica 'Pink Perfection', Heather can be grown in all types of soil and is extremely low maintenance. As well as rockeries and borders, it's also a great ground cover plant for areas of the garden which are underplanted and prone to weeds. For example very narrow borders between the driveway and boundary fence. Height: 30cm (12). Spread: 55cm (22).
Heather x darleyensis can thrive in exposed areas, making it an ideal plant for coastal gardens or alpine rockeries, with no shelter from fencing or trees. The plant flowers all though winter into spring, when most of the garden is dreary and dormant. Spread: 60cm (24).
