Physocarpus opulifolius ?Little Devil? is a dwarf form of Ninebark with attractive deep purple leaves which emerge bright red in spring and mature to deep burgundy by summer. Clusters of pink flowers appear in June, contrasting nicely with the dark foliage. In late summer, attractive fruits are borne, adding more interest to the already impressive display. Extremely low maintenance and ideal for beginner gardeners or those with little time to spend in the garden, taking well to containers and borders. Height and spread: 1.2m (4?).

Epipremnum aureum, or Devils Ivy, is an evergreen vine in its native Polynesia where it uses aerial roots to climb up to 20 metres with enormous leaves that can reach a metre across. Fortunately, as a houseplant it is much less vigorous. This Marble Queen variety has magnificent, glossy variegated green and white leaves which grow to 10cm (4in) long. The trailing stems will grow and grow unless you cut them back, making this an ideal plant for cascading from hanging baskets or down shelving. Also looks fantastic climbing up a support such as a moss pole. Remarkably tolerant of low light, Epipremnum will even retain its leaf colour in near darkness. Easy to care for, requiring just a little trimming to keep them in check and not too much water.
