'Madonna' is an extremely popular variety of aubergine, bearing particularly tasty, long oval fruits with wonderfully deep purple, glossy skins all summer from July. As a grafted aubergine that begins to ripen early, 'Madonna' crops heavily and continuously throughout the season whether grown in a greenhouse of a large patio pot. One of the main benefits of grafting is that the plants produce heavier crops over a longer period and have excellent resistance to pests and diseases, making them easy to grow and reliable performers. 'Madonna' will thrive in a greenhouse or on the patio in a warm and sheltered spot with regular watering and feeding. You'll be rewarded with a delicious harvest of aubergines that taste great when fried, grilled or baked and are a rich source of B vitamins and potassium as well as minerals and fibre. Supplied as 3 established plants in 9cm pots, ready to plant when the last chance of frost has passed, growing to a height of 70cm (2½ft) and spread of 60cm (2ft).
