Lagerstroemia indica, or Crepe Myrtles are spectacular deciduous flowering shrubs often seen on the continent. These sun loving beauties can also be grown in the UK, looking wonderfully exotic when in full flower. Some Crepe Myrtles can grow to 8m (25ft) tall, but 'Eveline' is much more compact and is unlikely to grow far beyond 2m (6½ft), the perfect size for a garden border or a large pot, making an incredibly impressive specimen. If you admire the Bougainvillea seen all over the Mediterranean and want something similar that will grow at home, then Crepe Myrtle is ideal. 'Eveline' flowers abundantly from June to September with masses of large, frilly edged, bright pastel pink flowers carried on panicles up to 20cm long bursting open from round pink and green buds, attracting bees and butterflies into your garden to feast on the fabulous blooms. As well as its amazing flower display, Lagerstroemia indica has even more to give. As it matures, it develops beautiful peeling grey and brown bark. Not only that, but the young foliage is tinged with rich bronzy red before maturing to dark green, with large 8cm long leaves, and in autumn it turns to vibrant gold, red and orange before falling. Hardy to below -5°C, it'll need some protection during the coldest winters, and it can be grown in a large pot to make sheltering it easier. Fully deserving its coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure that this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for a stunning display for many years to come. Supplied as an established plant in a 3L pot, ready to plant. Growing to a height and spread of 2m (6½ft).
