From British breeding, this is the first commercially grown purple variety! The purple colour is rich in healthy anthocyanin (antioxidant) pigment. Attractive bicoloured flowers form stunning flat, purple Mangetouts to eat raw and stir fry. Can also be steamed although colour will fade, or boiled when colour turns dark green. As with all Mangetouts they are best harvested and eaten young just as the 'peas' start to show. Powdery mildew resistant and tolerant to downy mildew to help extend the sowing season to early July
With a unique climbing habit Courgette 'Black Forest' makes a great space saving variety for growing in containers on the patio. Spread: 60cm (24). *Reinstated in our 2012 range - coming soon.

This is surely the sensible way to grow and eat peas - no time consuming podding, no waste, just heavy crops of delicious, sweet and juicy pods of sugar-peas, often called 'Mangetoutor 'Snow peas'. Well flavoured and excellent for lightly steaming or stir-fries,. The pods of Mangetout Pea Oregon Sugar Pod are large and flat (4 1/2 inches long by 3/4 inch wide) and stringless when young. This is the way peas will be eaten in the future. It just doesn't make sense to go through the tediousness of discarding the pod if its so full of goodness and so delicious to taste
British breeding in roundfruiting courgettes brings us this prolific new variety. Harvest small fruits to eat raw, whole or sliced in salads; stir-fried or on skewers on the barbeque. Mature fruits are ideal for stuffing. The more you pick, the more dark green fruits are produced throughout the summer on vigorous bushy plants.
The number one mangetout in our technical trials over the past two years. Sweet Horizon stood well in both the summer heatwave and autumn wet weather, producing an abundance of sweet, predominantly stringless pods through the season. Great mildew resistance gives the longest harvest window, with plants standing well until October. A dwarf habit make it ideal for container growing and small veg patches.
A tall growing variety with red leaf nodes and lovely mauve flowers followed by deliciously sweet pale golden-yellow, crisp pods. Best picked regularly before the peas swell in the pods, ideal steamed whole or added to stir fries. Mangetout Golden Sweet grows to 210cm (7ft) so needs support.
The compact, bushy plants of Courgette 'Midnight' are virtually spine free, making easier harvesting of the delicious dark green, slightly-speckled courgettes. This compact variety is ideal for growing in containers on the patio. Height: 45cm (18). Spread: 90cm (36).
Early, dwarf plants produce masses of small stringless, tender and sweet 'eat all' peas. As the whole pod is eaten, there is virtually no waste. With a compact, dwarf habit, this variety is ideal for exposed or windy locations. Protect younger plants from birds with twigs or netting and provide support with pea sticks or netting for easier picking, especially in windy locations. Keep moist and weed free at all times. Shows good tolerance to disease, especially Fusarium oxysporum. If continuous crops are desirable regular picking is advisable. Easy to grow and versatile, peas and beans make a delicious and nutritious addition to any meal. As well as being a traditional side, legumes also provide a terrific source of protein for a vegan diet. Peas and broad beans prefer cool conditions but need to be grown in full sun or partial shade. Short on space? Many varieties are well suited to growing in plant pots. Ideally you do not want to overcook either peas or beans, keeping just a touch of crispness.Characteristics:When To Sow: March-JuneWhen To Harvest: May-AugustSoil Type: Deeply dug, fertilised soilAdvice: Make 2 or 3 sowings for a longer harvestPacket Contents: Average 150 seedsLatin Name: Pisum sativumJohnsons' premium ranges of flower and vegetable packet seeds feature captivating flowers and authentic vegetables from around the world.
