One of the ground-breaking Boulevard® clematis, 'Guiding Promise' was bred by award-winning clematis expert Raymond Evison. Introduced in 2010 to mark the centenary of the Girl Guides, this compact, medium-sized plant gives an impressive display over a long flowering season from spring until autumn. This delightful compact climber flowers all the way along its stems, resulting in masses of large, mauve-purple flowers with a splash of burgundy from the ground upwards from late spring and into autumn. A beautiful feature for fences, trellises, and arches and is especially effective in containers. 'Guiding Promise' loves a sunny spot, where it can be trained up trellis for a vertical wall effect or allowed to naturally wind its way through beds and borders. Easy to look after, growing to just 1.2m (4ft) it'll never get out of control. A trim in February or March, cutting back stems to 15cm (6in) is all that's needed. Supplied an established plant in a 7cm pot, ready for planting.
