Big enough to plant out all year, and will flower in first season too, yet great value. Plant about 25cm (10in) apart for a dense continuous Lavender hedge which will fill out in 2 seasons, for that iconic look along pathways, driveways or lawn edges. Also great with several in large pots too. The flowers are great for cutting and drying too in Summer, and are a mecca for bees.Top Tips- In late summer, clip the plants back lightly after the flowers have faded. Cut the stems back by a few inches, but not so far that the stems are bare of live foliage, and plants will then have time to produce new shoots before winter dormancy.Care Guide- This drought-tolerant plant thrives in a sunny border, container, herb or gravel gardens.- Best planted between April and May when the soil is warming up, lavender thrives in most free-draining soils in full sun. Dig a hole a little deeper and 3 times wider than the nursery pot. Add a soil conditioner such as well-rotted manure to the earth removed from the hole if necessary. Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots. Sprinkle on some root grow to help establish a sound root system. Place your plant in the hole at the same level as the pot. Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling). Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball. Water well and mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark etc. Newly planted conifers need regular watering to prevent browning - once established they are drought proof. Remove weeds as soon as they appear and mulch well to reduce water loss.Pruning advice for your Thuja: No pruning is required although you can clip to retain its height from spring to late summer; just avoid cutting into old wood. Wild Cherry is a great option for creating a hedge that offers seasonal interest. In spring the hedge becomes full of white blossom, then followed by lush green foliage and red cherries in summer.

Yew is an English native, and forms superb, dense hedges from 1m to 3m or more, providing excellent screening, almost total shelter from wind and weather and excellent privacy. An evergreen conifer that is easy to manage, it grows at 20-30cm a year, quicker than many people think. It responds well to frequent trimming, yet can be cut just once a year in late summer too. Although plants can grow very large (they are trees after all), by planting them close and clipping every year, you can maintain them at a very respectable height. Potted plants can be planted any time fo the year, at 4 plants per liner Metre of hedge. Do not trim for 2 years after planting. Buy as many as you need for no extra P&P.
