Picea abies
  • £9.99

Picea abies, the Norway spruce or European spruce is the tree of choice for many of us at Christmas and has been used as far back as the fifteenth century as a decorative Christmas tree. A tree of history and tradition, the evergreen Spruce has long been associated with thanks and celebration and every year the city of Oslo donates a large Norway Spruce to London, symbolises their gratitude for help and aid received during the second World War. A fast-growing, dense conifer, up to 30m tall, the Norway spruce is narrowly conical when young becoming broader with age and mature trees provide a valuable habitat for a variety of wildlife so by growing one, you definitely do your bit for the environment! Plants can be grown in a pot for a number of years and brought in over the festive period, although will eventually need to be planted out into the garden, somewhere with room to spread. Perfect for celebrating a new home, a new member of the family, or just so the children can learn a lot about growing fun trees! Supplied as an established plant in a 9cm pot, 30-60cm in height, ready for immediate planting.

Picea 'Super Blue' is an easy to grow and visually stunning award winning member of the glauca (meaning blue leaved) group of pine trees that every garden should have! Growing to just 2.5m in 10 years, this is also a compact variety which will happily grow in a large tub if kept well-watered and fed regularly, meaning that everyone has the opportunity to grow it, with or without a garden (NB this is not a houseplant). Fully deserving its coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure that this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come. Possibly the best blue conifer there is, Super Blue is slow growing with dense, narrowly conical growth, with rigid, prickly, silvery-blue needles, the overall effect is a metallic-like, steely-blue sheen Grow in moist but well-drained acidic soil with shelter from cold drying winds. Can be grown in full sun or part shade and is easy to maintain, requiring little to no pruning. An ideal alternative to more traditional Christmas trees, the blue colour intensifies as the tree ages, bringing interest to your garden all year round. Polar Ice Decorative Stone 20 mm
  • £14.99

Treat yourself to a little extravagance with this decorative gravel, made from nothing other than completely natural marble. 'Polar Ice' is a gorgeous mixture of marble in pale tones of white, light blue and grey that's ideal for giving an elegant finishing touch to your landscaping all over the garden. The pale colours of the marble provide a perfect contrast to dark leaved plants, making them stand out brilliantly where once you may not have appreciated them. The 20 mm diameter angular chips make a perfect top dressing for all sorts of garden pots as well as houseplants too and are ideal for edging grey paving and patios. Used in pots and borders, the stones are small enough to be worked in around growing plants, but large enough to avoid getting washed away, helping to prevent muddy splashes and keeping your plants clean whilst also helping the soil to retain moisture and preventing weeds from growing. As a guide, one bag of stone will cover 50 cm² (20 in²) at a depth of 25 mm (1 in). Supplied as a 20 kg bag.
