'Young Love' is a beautiful pairing of cream tulips that look like they belong together. They are Fosteriana, or Emperor tulips, bred for their superb coloring and sensational flowers on very robust stems and are some of the earliest to bloom in spring. A combination of 'Flaming Purrisima' and 'White Valley' tulips, the flowers are extremely large, growing to 10 cm (4 in) across. With the creamy petals and touches of pink and green, these graceful tulips are simply gorgeous, either in the garden or cut in a vase. Tulip 'Flaming Purrisima' has creamy white flowers with petals that gradually change to pink towards their edges with a delightful, feathered pattern and they are a deeper pink on the inside. Tulip 'White Valley' Rich cream, semi-double flowers with a touch of buttery yellow at the base of the petals, with outer petals streaked in green. Easy to grow in sun or partial shade, in borders or large pots with free-draining soil, plant them in autumn to flower in spring. The spectacular Elephant garlic is more closely related to leeks than regular garlic and is commonly known as the 'wild leek'. Easy and rewarding to grow, this hardy perennial herb produces massive, papery-skinned bulbs that can measure up to 10-15cm (4-6in) in diameter, each with 5 or 6 huge cloves. It is a perfect choice for the kitchen garden or for adding a touch of drama to your herbaceous borders. Milder and sweeter in flavour than smaller varieties, Elephant garlic makes a versatile and interesting cooking ingredient. Grate it raw for salads and dressings; slice it finely for stir-fries; or best of all, bake or roast whole bulbs and squeeze out the lovely creamy centres for an unusual vegetable or dip, for spreading on crusty bread, or adding to mashed potato. Also great for the barbeque - just wrap them in foil and throw them on the grill! Cloves can be used fresh and succulent, or after they have been dried and stored over a few weeks or months, when they will have a more intense flavour. A native of Asia, Elephant garlic thrives in a sunny position in well-drained soil, although can tolerate a heavier soil than smaller garlic varieties. Its large, broad, flattish blue-green leaves and sturdy flower stems will rise tall and proud in your vegetable garden - or make a striking feature in a mixed border. The pinky-purple blooms appear in June and July; they are pretty enough but should be trimmed early so the plant concentrates its goodness in the swelling bulb. Cut the flowers for your vase or leave just a few in your borders for dramatic effect. Supplied as 4 planting cloves to produce 4 plants. Elephant garlic can be placed in the ground any time from September to February, avoiding times of frost or extreme cold. Grows to 1.5m (5ft) high by 30cm (12in) wide.
After years of dedicated breeding we are thrilled to bring you this new variety. The fastest of all raspberries, this unique berry is compact and ideal for growing in pots. The medium-sized fruits are produced from July and have a sumptuous, dark red colour. Although 'Summer Lovers Patio Red' is classed as an autumn-fruiting raspberry, once established it will start to bear fruit in the summer from the middle of July - 3 weeks before 'Autumn Bliss'. In addition, and as a contrast to the classic summer raspberries, this one is a primocane variety bearing fruit on new wood therefore meaning you'll get fruit in the very first year - no need to wait a year for crops! Easy to maintain, it requires just a little prune to simply remove old canes once they are older than 18 months and that's it. A breakthrough in raspberry breeding, 'Summer Lovers Patio Red' beats other established varieties in fruiting time, exceeding the current August crop of the earliest autumn berries. In fact, this variety has more or less made the term 'autumn fruiting' obsolete as it matures in the middle of summer! Easy to grow and look after, this raspberry can be grown and picked without problem in small spaces, in the garden, on a balcony or terrace, as they reach less than a metre. Supplied as an established plant in a 9cm pot, reaching H80cm x W50cm
If you're looking for an eye-catching plant to add height and interest to your garden, then this hybrid foxglove will certainly add the 'wow factor' to your displays this summer. Foxgloves hold a special place in the hearts of many gardeners and this remarkable variety is rapidly becoming one of the garden-designers' darlings, with their stately spires cropping up in all of the latest contemporary gardens. Digitalis Foxglove 'Illumination Flame' is an absolutely stunning perennial, producing multiple spikes of tubular blooms that will, simply, take your breath away. The striking flame-coloured tubular flowers are lightly speckled and shimmer faintly when illuminated by the sun giving real impact to any garden. Produced in abundance from early June to October they're magnets to furry bumble bees and other beneficial pollinating insects! Relatively compact compared to other foxgloves, 'Illumination Flame' is sterile which means that they will put all of their energy into making more blooms and don't make a nuisance of themselves by seeding everywhere. Plus, they have a naturally branching habit, which results in lots of flower spikes, makes these one of the showier varieties. Foxgloves thrive in full sun, or dappled shade, and are very easy to grow indeed, giving gardens a wild and naturalistic feel or a smart contemporary look depending on where you plant them. Perfect for a pot if you're short on space. Supplied as 6 x jumbo plug plants ready to pot on or plant out. Grows to H100cm x W50cm
Leucothoe 'Burning Love' is an evergreen, multi-stemmed compact shrub with striking, arching red branches of narrow, glossy leaves which are deep red when new, before turning dark green where they provide a fabulous backdrop to other garden plants. In autumn, the leaves transform into fiery scarlet, so it really does give you year-round colour and form adding interest wherever it is planted. This ornamental shrub welcomes spring with drooping clusters of dainty white, bell-like flowers that last well into midsummer. A very hardy shrub, these are easy to grow and make perfect specimens in pots or in beds and borders where their colourful leaves can shine through the garden, preferring acid conditions and a shaded location. Growing to 75cm (2.5ft) tall and wide, we supply an established plant in a 2L pot, ready for potting on or planting out.
