More commonly known as Bergamot, Monarda has unique and exotic looking flowers all summer and into early autumn. 'Melua Violet' has lush green aromatic foliage with toothed, heart shaped leaves and a lemon scent that forms the perfect backdrop for the distinctive flowers, which are bright violet-pink and incredibly complex and detailed. Perfect for sunny borders and containers, it will attract bees and butterflies throughout the flowering season from July to September and is Recommended by the RHS as a 'Plant for Pollinators'. This fully hardy perennial is easy to grow in a sunny location in moist soil. However, Monarda doesn't like to be too wet or too dry so we advise that you mulch the plant to help it to thrive.
