From the Maipo valley, next to Santiago on the Chilean border, Cousiño-Macul is the country's oldest wine producer (over 150 years old) and still has some pre-phylloxera vines in their Alto Maipo vineyards. The family continues to produce wines from these making use of the original winery. But they also have extensive newer plantings and a big modern facility lower down the valley enabling them to enjoy the best of both worlds.
