Cupressus macrocarpa Goldcrest Golden Cypress
  • £14.99

The soft, bright golden-yellow foliage of Cupressus 'Goldcrest' will provide your garden with healthy colour all year round and (in keeping with its name) gives off a fresh, lemon scent when foliage is crushed or cut - which is said to deter biting insects from that area of your garden. In the depths of winter, the cooler temperatures give the trees a deeper, richer colouration, giving you added visual impact in your garden. Also known as Monterey cypress, it's such a great all-round garden plant it has been awarded the coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit so you can be sure that it has been trialled and tested and declared garden worthy! Growing to 3-5m tall in 10 years, Goldcrest is naturally upright and slightly 'teardrop' shaped but can be trimmed to suit your required height and makes perfect topiary. It is very easy to manage and can be kept in post on the patio for many years, where it will happily sit at centre stage of your displays. Golden Scented Cypress will grow in virtually any soil and in any location from full sun to partial shade (although for the brightest of golden-yellow colour it is best in full sun and protected from drying winds). It is completely winter hardy throughout the entire UK and is virtually pest and disease resistant too.  Supplied as 6 x plants in 9cm pots, ready for planting out into the desired location.

Alocasia Polly Indoor Plant In 17cm Pot
  • £18.99

Alocasia ‘Polly’ is a stunning evergreen, ornamental houseplant that will make a wonderful addition to your home. The glossy, variegated arrow-like leaves are lush and heart-shaped and dark emerald green with contrasting veins and even darker undersides. Perfect for adding a tropical feel to your home. This fast growing foliage plant originates from the tropics of Asia, and prefers a shady area so when growing it in your home, give it plenty of light and water but not direct sunlight. Position it by a bright window. As well as being spectacular to look at, leafy tropical houseplants provide air-cleaning benefits. It has been found that houseplants can actually improve the environment in our homes, clearing the air, removing toxins and adding valuable oxygen to the air that we breathe. Supplied as an established plant in a 17cm nursery pot, Alocasia Polly will grow to a height of about 40cm. Please note that the decorative pot is not included.Care GuideLikes moist but well-drained soil so keep the compost moist with warm water. Do not allow the soil to dry out. Little and often is a good approach. Place by a bright window, but out of direct sunlight which will scorch the leaves. Alocasia prefers above average humidity, so stand on a pebble tray to improve humidity and mist frequently. Water with a general-purpose liquid houseplant feed once a month during the growing season. Give the plant a quarter turn every day to maximise its exposure to sunlight. A tropical plant, Alocasia needs to be kept warm (18-22C is ideal) and has a dormant period in winter when growth stops, and the leaves may fade and die back. During this period, the plants will require less water, so simply moisten the soil from time to time and rapid growth will recommence the following year. Note: Alocasia Macrorrhiza is harmful if eaten and is a skin and eye irritant to some people. Keep out of reach of children and pets. This product is offered for sale for home delivery exclusively via our website only. Ficus Microcarpa Ginseng Indoor Plant 14cm Pot
  • £14.99

A quirky plant that is grown in Bonsai style, Ficus Ginseng is a robust, easy-care houseplant that will bring a little Zen into your home. A bonsai suitable for beginners, the plant is characterised by the shape of its trunk and the miniature canopy of small, shiny oval leaves. The thick, pot-bellied trunk is actually made up of roots and this is where it gets its name, Ginseng meaning root in China. Originating in Asia, the roots of Ficus Ginseng are grown for 15 years or so before being finished in the greenhouse as bonsai, so your little plant has already had a long life by the time it arrives in your home. Place your Ficus 'Ginseng' in a prominent place so it can be enjoyed all day. In summer it can even take pride of place outdoors on the patio or decking. Ideal for those venturing into the world of bonsai growing for the first time, Ficus Ginseng is the easiest bonsai tree to grow because it is very tolerant of a range of conditions. Supplied as a potted plant in a 14cm nursery pot. Please note that the decorative pot is not included.Care GuideFicus Ginseng thrives indoors in good light and appreciates being kept outdoors during spring and summer. If outside, protect your bonsai from the midday sun, and when temperatures drop below 54F (12C) bring it indoors and place it on or near a windowsill. Never neglect watering; allow the compost to dry between waterings, but not completely. If you accidentally let your tree’s soil dry out, immerse the container in a bucket of water for an hour to properly soak it, before draining well. In the winter, you'll need to water less. It is normal for a Ficus tree to lose some leaves, but if it’s dropping more than a few, then under or over watering may be the problem. Ficus may also lose leaves if not getting enough light - simply move your plant into a sunnier spot. Also, acclimatisation after moving may have an effect - this is normal, especially if your plant has summered outdoors as it’s simply getting used to a new position. This product is offered for sale for home delivery exclusively via our website only.
