String of Pearls
  • £25.99

The String of Pearls plant is an apt name, with its round, succulent-like leaves carried down long, slender stems. Despite its delicate appearance, this unusual succulent house plant is a vigorous grower, quickly creeping across the surface of the pot, then cascading down the side. Its trailing stems can reach 2-3 ft (60-90 cm). If long stems become straggly, you can cut them off, this type pruning will help encourage new growths and you can propagate cuttings too. Light and Water Keep in bright light with some direct sunlight. Although beautiful, it can be a little fussy when it comes to care. It likes the soil on the dryer side as it is very vulnerable to rot, and it needs to be in a consistently warm, bright spot. In winter, when less light is available, reduce watering to an absolute minimum. Try watering your plant to keep it moist during growing seasons (spring, summer) and cut back in winter to just enough so the soil doesn’t dry out. Beads that look flat are a sign that the soil is too dry. Give it a good drink but take care not to over water. This succulent will not tolerate soggy soil.

String Of Pearls Senecio Rowleyanus Indoor Plant 14cm Hanging Pot
  • £17.99

Senecio herreianus, also known as the string-of-pearls or string-of-beads plant, is a trailing, succulent vine and one of the rising stars of social media sharing! Looking just like a string of green beads, it's perfect for hanging baskets or cascading from shelves. The String of Beads appreciates room to trail and is perfectly photogenic. The pea-sized leaves (which allow for the storage of water while at the same time minimising water loss) are produced on trailing stems which can grow 60–90 cm (2-3 ft). In its natural habitat, the stems trail on the ground, rooting where they touch and forming a dense mat. Each rounded leaf has a thin band of dark green tissue on the side known as an 'epidermal window' which allows light to enter and irradiate the inside of the leaf, effectively increasing the area for photosynthesis - a clever plant indeed. Senecio blooms during the summer with clusters of small white flowers with colourful stamens. The flowers last about a month and are said to smell like cinnamon and other spices to some people. Easy to grow and low maintenance, like most succulents the string of beads will tolerate infrequent watering and just a few hours of direct sunlight every day. Good soil drainage is essential though to prevent problems and we recommend that a cactus mix is used when potting. Please note that the decorative pot is not included.Care GuideBest grown in bright light with some direct sun in well-draining compost. Keep lightly watered during the growing season (spring to autumn) and cut back in winter, watering just enough to prevent the soil from drying out. Beads that look flat are a sign that the soil is too dry. Take care not to overwater as it will not tolerate soggy soil. As a succulent, the String of Pearls will not tolerate the cold and needs a minimum of 5C being frost tender. It can be grown outside in the summer months, but keep it shaded from the hot midday sun. Plants can be fed once a month during their growing season with a half-strength liquid feed. This product is offered for sale for home delivery exclusively via our website only. Three Variety Family Pear Tree
  • £24.99

If you love pears but only have room for one fruit tree, here is the perfect solution, as this tree has three different varieties growing on the same plant. It's not a freak of nature but the result of skilful grafting work by expert nurserymen who have grafted 2 additional varieties onto another pear tree. By careful selection of varieties you can be sure all three parts of the tree will grow in harmony and the fruits will ripen at their natural time, giving a succession of tasty fruits across a much wider cropping window than if just one variety were grown. No need to worry about pollination either, as the three varieties on the tree will pollinate each other! Your Family pear tree will thrive in a sunny border and, far from being just a curiosity, will mature into a highly productive tree. You can expect the first crop as soon as the year after planting. This is also the perfect fruit tree for a large pot on the patio. The main tree is Williams - a classic English pear with meltingly juicy flesh that is ready in mid-September. Onto this have been grafted: Conference - the perfect all-rounder. Elongated fruit are ready to pick in October for ripening through autumn.  Deliciously sweet when ripe, they are also the perfect cooking pear. Abbe Fetel - not a familar name perhaps, but widely seen in shops, imported from Italy, where it is the favourite variety. It gives medium-sized pears with an aromatic, honeyed sweetness. Pick in October. Keep cool and bring the fruits in to ripen as needed through to Christmas. Supplied as a Three Variety Family Pear Tree, in a 3L pot, approx. 80-100cm tall including pot.

Whitecurrant Summer Pearls White
  • £4.99

The whitecurrant is very similar to its cousin, the redcurrant. However, whereas the redcurrant can be a rather tart, the whitecurrant is much, much sweeter whilst retaining a noticeable zing to its taste. As the name suggests, the fruit of 'Summer Pearls White' really does look like perfect little translucent pearls with a pale golden sheen, and they're deliciously sweet, juicy and tasty too! A perfect accompaniment to cereals and desserts or eaten straight from the bush, it's in cooking that these vitamin packed currants come into their own. They're so incredibly sweet that no added sugar is needed when making jams and pies. Best harvested by picking entire strings, they're absolutely delicious and long lasting in the fridge and freezer. Whitecurrants can be easily trained as cordons and espaliers against a wall or fence and are extremely attractive garden plants. Although they produce the sweetest tasting fruit when grown in full sun, they also do well in partial shade. So easy to grow, hardy and vigorous, cropping reliably whilst requiring little care. Supplied as and established plant in a 9cm pot and growing up to 1.5m (5ft), although it can be kept smaller through pruning.
