Simply add the soil into the special planting basket, add the plant, cover with gravel and your Water Lily is ready to add to your pond. Bare root perennials are already full-sized plants, allowing you to enjoy good growth and crop in the first year. No need to wait as long to see your favourite blooms which will return year after year. Kit includes a pink water lily (Nymphaea carnea), planting basket, top quality aquatic soil and decorative gravel. Top Tips- Water lilies flourish in still water, so do not plant them near a pond pump or fountain. As these Lilies are dry-packed, young plants, they need starting off gently. Initially, place the filled baskets on a shallow shelf of the pond, where only the top of the plant is at the water line, and allow it to establish.- Alternatively, set them up submerged in a decorative pot or planter on your decking or patio to start, then, when established, move them into the pond.Care Guide- The mesh container is specially designed to allow water to circulate through the compost, providing the plants with both oxygen and nutrients.- To plant up, add 1/3 of the soil to the basket and place the lily on top, spreading its roots. Add the rest of the soil and the gravel on top.- After potting and once established, all you need to do is to place the pot into a pond. Initially the pot should be placed on a stack of bricks so the leaves float on the surface of the water.- As the plant matures, remove one layer of bricks at a time, gradually lowering the plant into the pond until the desired depth has been reached.- Water lilies require sun to grow, blooming when water temperatures reach 15C (60°F), so best positioned in full sun.- Depth of the water should not be less than 60cm (2ft) nor more than 120cm (4ft).- Feed in spring and summer, removing yellow leaves and spent flowers regularly to maintain blooming.Planting Time:February - NovemberFlowering Time:June - SeptemberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. Pink Silk Tree Albizia julibrissin Rosea
  • £14.99

This exotic deciduous tree comes to life in late-spring with the emergence of wonderful, fern-like foliage - and reaches a crescendo of colour in mid-late summer when the incredible, fluffy, bright pink flowers cover every branch - each one carrying a lovely fragrance! Hardy enough to withstand all but the worst frosts, it is ideal for a pot or sunny border. Also known as the Pink Silk Tree, Albizia Rosea is ideal as a feature plant in Mediterranean-style gardens, where the fine foliage makes a particularly attractive feature in its own right. Hardy throughout most of the UK, the silk tree benefits from planting near a south-facing wall for a little winter protection, helping it to retain its leaves for a little longer into the autumn. The dainty leaves of the silk tree slowly close during the night and during periods of heavy rain to protect itself from damage, giving it an alternative name of 'night sleeper'. In Japan its common names (of which there are several) all mean 'sleeping tree', so don't be surprised if your tree looks a little droopy at times - it's just resting! Reaching up to 4 x 2.5m, you will receive an established young plant in a 3L pot.

Mangave Pineapple Express
  • £14.99

A new and exciting development in succulent breeding that is taking the gardening world by storm. The 'Pineapple Express' is a fascinating cross between the Manfreda and the Agave, Mangaves are becoming increasingly popular as the interest in Xeric landscaping grows - the process of gardening that reduces or eliminates the need for supplemental moisture from watering. Manfredas have rosettes of coloured leaves branching from a very short stem, often with creamy, tubular flowers at the end of a long stalk. Agaves on the other hand are well known for their strong succulent leaves that form large rosettes. These interesting hybrids combine the best features of both types: the better growth rate and the interesting patterns and colours of Manfreda, and the habit and refinement of Agave. Varieties can be spotted, blotched or plain green in various shades and with an interesting texture, they can be a bit pointy, but not as prickly as a cactus. Some of the varieties have interesting leaf shape too, from slim and long to short and broad and wavy or straight too. The 'Pineapple Express' is a beautifully spotted Mangave with light green leaves that during the summer months come to life when the colours are heighten thanks to the sun. Compact in growth and visually stunning, Mangaves make a perfect patio plant, sitting happily in a pot through the summer on your decking or balcony, they will then make a perfect houseplant through the winter in a bright room. All varieties should be watered only sparingly as they are ideally suited to dessert, arid conditions and are lovers of warm temperatures - they make an ideal specimen for a greenhouse or as a houseplant for bright rooms - indeed anything less than 65°F will result in the plant becoming dormant. Supplied as an established plant in a 15cm pot, ready to plant.
