Pachira Aquatica is a striking but undemanding houseplant with gorgeous twining stems and luxurious, palmate leaves. Also known as the Money Tree, Guiana Chestnut or the Saba Nut it is an exotic-looking specimen that will be the talking point of your home. A native of South and Central America that thrives near wetlands and swamps, hence its name 'Aquatica'. It loves soil that is moist at all times so it's virtually indestructible and also thrives in indirect light, so growing it indoors is a piece of cake. Preferring a warm, light position, a little shade is also well tolerated by this sturdy houseplant. Just position it in the brightest area of your home and leave it to do its thing. During the winter, place Pachira in a cooler room, and carry out any routine pruning needed: snip back stems just in front of a leaf or node to remove length. Cut no more than 1/3 of a stem and snip it at a 45-degree angle to promote new growth. Trim back the top stems to prevent your tree from growing too tall - keeping it pruned low to the twisted trunk will help control its size.
