Epipremnum aureum, or Devils Ivy, is an evergreen vine in its native Polynesia where it uses aerial roots to climb up to 20 metres with enormous leaves that can reach a metre across. Fortunately, as a houseplant it is much less vigorous. This Marble Queen variety has magnificent, glossy variegated green and white leaves which grow to 10cm (4in) long. The trailing stems will grow and grow unless you cut them back, making this an ideal plant for cascading from hanging baskets or down shelving. Also looks fantastic climbing up a support such as a moss pole. Remarkably tolerant of low light, Epipremnum will even retain its leaf colour in near darkness. Easy to care for, requiring just a little trimming to keep them in check and not too much water. A strong growing flat-leaved or Italian parsley, with good winter hardiness and dark green leaves that stand well, in good condition, without yellowing. Like all flat leaved varieties this hardy biennial has a stronger flavour than curled leaved varieties making it indispensible in for a wide range of culinary uses. The soft, bright golden-yellow foliage of Cupressus 'Goldcrest' will provide your garden with healthy colour all year round and (in keeping with its name) gives off a fresh, lemon scent when foliage is crushed or cut - which is said to deter biting insects from that area of your garden. In the depths of winter, the cooler temperatures give the trees a deeper, richer colouration, giving you added visual impact in your garden. Growing to 3-5m tall in 10 years, Goldcrest is naturally upright and slightly 'teardrop' shaped but can be trimmed to suit your required height and makes perfect topiary. Golden Scented Cypress will grow in virtually any soil and in any location from full sun to partial shade (although for the brightest of golden-yellow colour it is best in full sun and protected from drying winds).
