Self-fertile and reaching a height of just 2m in 5 years, harvesting the fruit of 'Queen Mary' couldn't be easier as the cherries grow naturally close to the main stem instead of on branches. As well as being a productive fruit tree, it also makes a magnificent addition to your patio or balcony so that you can snack on the delicious cherries, fresh from the tree. Epipremnum aureum, or Devils Ivy, is an evergreen vine in its native Polynesia where it uses aerial roots to climb up to 20 metres with enormous leaves that can reach a metre across. Fortunately, as a houseplant it is much less vigorous. This Marble Queen variety has magnificent, glossy variegated green and white leaves which grow to 10cm (4in) long. The trailing stems will grow and grow unless you cut them back, making this an ideal plant for cascading from hanging baskets or down shelving. Also looks fantastic climbing up a support such as a moss pole. Remarkably tolerant of low light, Epipremnum will even retain its leaf colour in near darkness. Easy to care for, requiring just a little trimming to keep them in check and not too much water.
