A vigorous, quick-growing climber for long lasting summer colour. Excellent for scrambling over walls or covering fences, trellis and obelisks. The frilly blooms are produced continually over the summer in a bright colour range including bicolours.
Beautiful five-petalled, softly coloured blooms and intricately marbled leaves are what make this nasturtium a superb choice to complement any garden scheme. The pretty salmon-orange flowers have darker veins flushing from their centres and stand above foliage that forms attractive, globe-shaped mounds. A winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, 'Alaska Salmon Orange' is noted for its reliability and good performance. This hardy annual is easy to grow and versatile, with a long flowering season from early June until the first frosts in October. They look fabulous when trained up a trellis or fence, tumbling out of window boxes and containers, or cascading over the sides of hanging baskets. Plant them as groundcover in a mixed border or rock garden, where they will add pleasing interest amid other flowers and foliage. They also look great as a cut flower in a natural arrangement. A worthy addition to a kitchen garden, nasturtiums are loved by bees and butterflies, so are good for pollination. They will attract hover flies, which prey on aphids, so make a great companion for brassicas, pumpkins, radish, tomato and potatoes - even roses - to help control pests. When they die back they will replenish the soil, adding nutrients and minerals to help other plants thrive. Being native to South and Central America, which were known as the Indies, the flowers were once commonly called 'Indian cresses'. Indeed, the leaves and flowers are edible, with a pleasant, slightly peppery flavour reminiscent of watercress. Mix them into your salads and garnishes for a pop of extra colour and flavour, or add last minute to a stir-fry. They are rich in vitamin C, too. Supplied as a packet of 25 (approx.) seeds ready to sow indoors in pots, from February to March, or outdoors from April to June directly where they are to grow. Nasturtiums will flower most prolifically in a sunny position in free-draining soil. They are drought tolerant but appreciate an occasional watering in warm weather. Regular dead-heading will encourage continuous flowering.
Strong compact, vigorous trailing plants with decorative marbled foliage and vibrant orange flowers. Continues to produce blooms all over the foliage throughout the summer. Stunning planted in baskets or containers or used as a spreading groundcover plant.
An exquisite, easy to grow, mixture of Love in a Mist, bringing together some spectacular double blooms in a delightful blend of blue shades followed by intriguing seed pods. A cottage garden favourite which creates a soothing drift of colour in borders and makes a dramatic cut or dried flower.

I just thought you might like to see some photos of the orange tree I bought from you and oranges it produced this year. I got it around the beginning of last year and the fruit was over a year in the making, but it finally started to ripen in September...I have eaten two of the fruits, picking them when they fell off easily with handling. The other three ripe ones (I have a couple of small green ones on from this year too) aren't quite ready yet, so I will leave them for now. The fruits so far have had a slightly thicker skin than the ones you buy in the shops, but were so much sweeter and tastier. :-)Anyway, please find the photos attached and thanks for your help throughout the year. Teresa, Goole, Did you know The citrus family tree is an old and distinguished line and just like tea and spice helped build entire empires - not many other fruits can offer you that much history! Before they started their journey to places like Florida, Spain and Brazil, just five species of citrus dominated: Kumquat Papeda Citron Pomelo Mandarin and it from this basic genetic pool that we get all the varieties that we see today. Unlike many species of plants and animal, citrus are fortunate in that they are sexually compatible and highly prone to mutation, mixing genes and creating new plants with abandon! This provides the ideal opportunity for plant breeders to intervene and by selective breeding create the commercial varieties that we are all familiar with. Citrus have been around since the Miocene epoch - that's 7 million years - so they're a highly successful species and their constant evolution means that there's always something new appearing. For example, varieties that we take for granted such as the grapefruit are a recent arrival at just 300 years old. With so much opportunity to create more varieties, the future is definitely looking golden for the citrus and for us too, with many more, juicier, sweeter, and bigger fruits reaching our tables and gardens.

For best results, bring indoors to cool area for winter. Feed with specialist feed every month in spring and summer growth - they are hungry fellows.Care Guide- The sweetly-fragranced flowers appear all year round, especially in late winter, and fruit ripens up to 12 months later - so plants are often in flower and fruiting at the same time.- Citrus tend not to thrive in centrally heated homes, so from mid-Jun to late September, give plants a treat and transfer them outside to make the most of the available sunshine - but remember they are not frost tolerant so will need bringing under cover if cold nights threaten.- In summer, water freely - ideally with rainwater, while in winter you can reduce the amount - allowing the surface to partially dry out before watering again. Always allow excess water to drain away.- Overwatering in winter is one of the commonest problems, so err on the dry side.- Only minimal pruning is required to reshape or remove dead or damaged shoots.Planting Time:April - SeptemberFlowering Time:March - AprilDecemberFruiting Time:November - DecemberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire.
