When it comes to flavour, Broad Bean 'Masterpiece Green Longpod' is hard to beat. This RHS AGM variety has long been a popular choice for its generous, long pods filled with up to seven exceptionally tasty and nutritious green beans.
A favourite with commercial growers as the smallest seeded broad bean. The flavoursome beans are the best option for freezer storage, being far less prone to discolouring than larger varieties. We recommend growing Broad Bean 'Oscar? alongside Marrowfat Pea.
This dwarf, compact Broad Bean is absolutely perfect for small gardens and offers bumper crops of 15cm (6in) pods, each packed with 5 deliciously tender beans. Ideal for successional sowings to give continuous picking through the season.
Broad Bean 'Perla? is an RHS AGM variety with healthy, dark foliage. This neat little Bean is slightly taller than the well known variety 'The Sutton? but equally good for growing in patio containers. An early setting of white flowers produces a good crop of pods, each containing up to 6 bright green beans. Having been bred as a gourmet crop, the beans are delicately flavoured, and provide an excellent source of folate, fibre and vitamin B. Make successional sowings for a continuous harvest from June to August. Height: 90cm (36). Spread: 45cm (18).
Try growing broad beans in a pot on your patio or by the back door! This compact dwarf variety is ideal. With a similar habit to customer favourite 'The Sutton', British-bred 'Robin Hood' will produce bumper crops of short pods containing 4-6 tender green beans
Be the first to harvest delicious broad beans! Ten years of breeding have produced De Monica, the earliest-maturing broad bean variety from a spring sowing. Ready to harvest at the same time as wintersown variety Aquadulce. A strong root system and an upright plant habit with 2-3 stems per plant produce high yields of 15cm (6in) pods with 4-5 large seeds per pod
A heritage variety with stunning crimson flowers, followed by a good crop of short, upright pods and delicious beans. Broad Bean Crimson Flowered is ideal for growing in containers as well as in the garden, or as an ornamental edible in the flower border
(White Seeded). Perfect for early sowings in February, as this variety shows excellent tolerance to cold weather. Broad Bean Witkiem produces a good crop of plump, well-filled pods with big tasty beans which will be ready to harvest in June. Recommended for home freezing. Broad Bean Witkiem can also be sown successionally through to May. Height: 100cm (40 inches)
A major improvement on traditional varieties, Broad Bean Jubilee Hysor produces a tremendous yield of broad, well filled pods, each containing 6 to 8 beans of superb flavour
A very good flavoured broad bean, with good pod length and remarkable table qualities. It may well be the best green-seeded variety, excellent for deep freezing and growing well under all conditions. Height: 75-90cm (30-36in)
This is the fastest maturing variety of any broad bean and an early spring sowing will out yield all others. Broad Bean Express produces up to 34 good pods per plant! It is also winter hardy, outstanding for deep freeze as it does not discolour and probably for the same reason is particularly tender and tasty. Broad Bean Express replaces Imperial Green Windsor over which it is a considerable improvement
This variety is universally recognised as being best for an autumn sowing. Broad Bean Aquadulce Claudia establishes itself very quickly and will produce a very early crop. It is white seeded and the pods are up to 23cm (9 inches) long. Height: 90-100cm (36-40in)
