Star Magnolias are compact and slow growing, making them ideal for smaller borders and containers. Magnolia stellata 'Rosea' is a pretty cultivar that will certainly make an impact in spring. Soft pink blooms erupt from furry buds that adorn the bare branches. As the flowers age they fade to white with a delicate pink blush. This charming deciduous shrub becomes cloaked in handsome green foliage as the flowers fade and colourful cone-like fruit take their place. A particularly elegant choice for sheltered borders, patio containers and woodland gardens.
This exotic deciduous tree comes to life in late-spring with the emergence of wonderful, fern-like foliage - and reaches a crescendo of colour in mid-late summer when the incredible, fluffy, bright pink flowers cover every branch - each one carrying a lovely fragrance! Hardy enough to withstand all but the worst frosts, it is ideal for a pot or sunny border. Also known as the Pink Silk Tree, Albizia Rosea is ideal as a feature plant in Mediterranean-style gardens, where the fine foliage makes a particularly attractive feature in its own right. Hardy throughout most of the UK, the silk tree benefits from planting near a south-facing wall for a little winter protection, helping it to retain its leaves for a little longer into the autumn. The dainty leaves of the silk tree slowly close during the night and during periods of heavy rain to protect itself from damage, giving it an alternative name of 'night sleeper'. In Japan its common names (of which there are several) all mean 'sleeping tree', so don't be surprised if your tree looks a little droopy at times - it's just resting! Reaching up to 4 x 2.5m, you will receive an established young plant in a 3L pot.
Lavatera, also known as 'tree mallow', is a must-have for every garden! Large, shrubby perennials, their impressive, hollyhock-like flower spikes stand up to 2 metres tall and will burst into an abundance of colour all summer long. 'Rosea' is one of the prettiest Lavatera, with large, rose-pink blooms - perfect for creating a Mediterranean or tropical mood in your garden and for contrasting with leafy perennials. This large, versatile plant is equally happy in a cottage garden scheme. Ideal for hot, sunny spots, they are great plants for climbing up walls and trellises. You can also prune them to grow in pots on the patio. Incredibly vigorous, these are some of the easiest plants to grow and are perfect for beginners. Supplied as an established plant in a 9cm pot, Lavatera 'Rosea' will bloom from June to September, reaching an approximate height of 200cm.
Weigela florida 'Rosea' is a lovely deciduous shrub with arching branches and bright green leaves that form a mound of loose stems as it begins to grow in spring. From May until July it will produce bright cerise buds that open into clusters of lovely, funnel shaped pink flowers. Weigela florida varieties are recommended by the RHS as 'Plants for Pollinators' and are a favourite with butterflies and bees. A medium sized shrub, it looks splendid towards the back of a border or in woodland gardens but also works well in a large planter, where its size can be kept under control to give a more compact plant. It can even be grown as a low maintenance flowering hedge. Very easy to look after, 'Rosea' is fully hardy and low maintenance. Just cut it back after flowering to allow new branches space to grow. These will carry next year's flowers. Supplied as an established plant in a 2 L pot, ready for planting and growing to a height and spread of 2 m (2½ ft).
This attractive deciduous shrub is adorned with pink flowers from late spring. Ht. 1-2m. Supplied as bare root plants.
