Prunus laurocerasus 'Rotundifolia', with its RHS AGM, is a hardy evergreen shrub with very shiny, mid-green leaves. This cherry laurel has a bushy habit with broad leaves, making it suitable for hedging, where it provides shelter for birds in winter. Its racemes of small, white and fragrant flowers attract bees in April, and the dark, cherry-like fruits that follow are popular with wildlife from summer onwards. Prunus laurocerasus 'Rotundifolia' requires little maintenance, and is happy growing in dry shade as well as full sun. Its compact form makes it particularly suitable for hedging, but it can also be grown as a specimen plant in large containers. Height: 5m (16'). Spread: 4m (13').
