All heights listed are approximate and fully established plant heights may vary. The amount of foliage, buds or bloom on the plant will depend on what part of the season the product is purchased. Please see description below for full product details.Create incredible spring displays in spring each year with this stunning Magnolia stellata! Large white flowers burst out of the silky, silvery buds that cover the bare branches of this aptly named ‘Star Magnolia’ during March and April. Breathe in deeply – each bloom is deliciously fragrant! Despite Magnolia’s ‘connoisseur’ status, anyone can achieve truly amazing displays with this easy-to-grow and hardy tree. Compact and slow-growing, it will remain a manageable size for even the smallest garden or balcony! Why not buy a pair and place them either side of your gateway? Supplied as an established plant in a 5L pot, ready for immediate planting.Top Tips- When planting, choose your site carefully as magnolias dislike being moved.- Magnolia plants establish quicker when their roots are shaded so apply a mulch of rotted bark chips, manure or garden compost after planting, taking care not to mound it around the stem of the plant.Care Guide- When planting, choose your site carefully as magnolias dislike being moved.- Dig a hole twice the width of the roots, forking over the bottom to loosen the soil, and add some good quality fertiliser such as Blood Fish & Bone.- Aim to plant at the same depth as it was in the pot.- Holding the tree or plant upright in position with one hand, slowly backfill the hole with soil- Use your heel to compact the soil around the plant to ensure good contact around the roots.- If you're planting into pots, place some old rocks, stones or gravel in the bottom of the pot for drainage and ballast and use the best compost you can buy - an equal mix of ericaceous compost with John Innes No. 3 is ideal.- For tall trees and shrubs, we highly recommend using our Tree Planting Kit. You only need to support the bottom half of each trunk, so push 40cm of each stake into the soil next to each tree.- With the soft tie, make a figure of eight around both the trunk and stake, and fasten it off - your tree will now be better protected from strong winds.- Spread the Mycorrhizal fungi on the roots and in the soil when planting and ensure that it is in close contact with the roots.- Water the plants weekly - especially in dry weather - for the first 8 weeks or so - do not allow plants to dry out in the first four months after planting.- When the soil and air warm up from late March onwards, you should see the plant burst into life.Planting Time:February - NovemberFlowering Time:March - AprilAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. Magnolia X Brooklynensis 'Yellow Bird' - Single Established Plant

All heights listed are approximate and fully established plant heights may vary. The amount of foliage, buds or bloom on the plant will depend on what part of the season the product is purchased. Please see description below for full product details.Magnolias are a traditional sign that spring has arrived each and every year, with their beautiful huge buds bursting into colour early in the season. Most Magnolia are pink or shades thereof, so this rare and fabulously unique hybrid 'Yellow Bird' really is unusual. Magnolia ‘Yellow Bird’ bears the most wonderful huge lemon-yellow flowers, sometimes streaked lime green, emerging just before the deep green leaves unfurl in the spring. Easy to grow, it's hardy to -15C (although best to avoid windy sites) and with just a little prune to shape will form a nice, low maintenance, medium sized specimen garden tree. Not just a plant for the garden, you can also plant up in a large patio container and place by a doorway, gateway or pathway where it will make a superb eye-catching feature, or on a patio where you can really enjoy the beauty. Supplied as an established plant in a 3Lpot,ready for immediate planting.Top Tips- Plant magnolias in a sunny or semi shaded position with protection from cold winds and hard spring frosts. Pawpaw Fruit Tree Asimina Triloba - Single Established Plant
  • £19.99

This product is offered for sale for home delivery exclusively via our website only. The images represent established plants, the supplied product may be younger. All heights listed are approximate and fully established plant heights may vary. The amount of foliage, buds or bloom on the plant will depend on what part of the season the product is purchased. Please see description below for full product details.A decorative shrub that can be grown outside, the pawpaw is a garden-worthy plant that will give a long season of interest. The show begins in spring, when the deep burgundy-purple, cup-shaped flowers burst from their buds in May. With an unusual form, they consist of 6 petals - 3 outer and 3 inner - giving a delightful show that always gets attention. These are followed in hot summers by oval, edible fruits that colour up from yellow to a rich ochre - think of the colour of a ripe banana. The long lime-green leaves then dominate the show, gradually turning golden-yellow before falling in the autumn. Tasting like a cross between a banana and a mango, pawpaw is said to have a sweet custard-like flavour which makes them a great delicacy - however, you're unlikely to see them commercially grown as plants can be male, female or hermaphroditic. Although they have both male and female reproduction parts, they are not self-pollinating and need pollination from another unrelated pawpaw tree. Hardy to -10C, the Pawpaw benefits from a warm position in the garden such as a sheltered, south-facing wall where it is best grown as an ornamental multi-stemmed shrub. While plants can reach up to 8m in their native US, they're more likely to attain a modest 4m here in the UK.Supplied as an established plant in a 3L pot ready for immediate planting.Top Tips- Pot-grown shrubs can be planted at any time of the year as long as the soil is not waterlogged or frozen. If in doubt, err towards spring but remember to keep pots well-watered so that the soil does not dry out.Care GuidePlanting Advice for your Asimina triloba Pawpaw tree:- Grow Paw Paw in a sunny, sheltered site in well-drained, preferable acid soil. Protect from frost and winds.- Paw paw trees need well-draining soil that is high in organic matter so if your soil is heavy, then you can improve drainage by adding sand or grit.- Dig a planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once the shrub is in place.- We've found that a square hole is better than a round one as the new roots, once they reach the edges tend to grow in a circle round the circumference of the hole whereas when they reach the corners of a square hole, they find it easier to grow through.- Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain.- Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.- Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.- Place your shrub in the hole at the same level at the pot.- Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).- Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball and water well.- Mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark etc.Aftercare advice for Asimina triloba:- The paw paw tree likes to be kept in continuously moist soil.- Keep plants well-watered while they establish.- Hardy to -10°C, protect from cold winds as it is these that tend to cause the most damage to young plants.Pruning Advice for Pawpaw:- Pawpaws require no special pruning; only occasional maintenance is needed to remove any growth that has been damaged over winter.Planting Time:February - NovemberFlowering Time:May - JuneFruiting Time:SeptemberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. Mangave 'Mission to Mars' - Single Established Plant
  • £19.99

This product is offered for sale for home delivery exclusively via our website only. The images represent established plants, the supplied product may be younger. All heights listed are approximate and fully established plant heights may vary. The amount of foliage, buds or bloom on the plant will depend on what part of the season the product is purchased. Please see description below for full product details. Not as recent marketing would have you believe a plant that has been created for men, but rather a new and exciting development in succulent breeding that is taking the gardening world by storm. A cross between the Manfreda and the Agave, Mangaves are becoming increasingly popular as the interest in Xeric landscaping grows - the process of gardening that reduces or eliminates the need for supplemental moisture from watering. Manfredas have rosettes of coloured leaves branching from a very short stem, often with creamy, tubular flowers at the end of a long stalk. Agaves on the other hand are well known for their strong succulent leaves that form large rosettes. These interesting hybrids combine the best features of both types the better growth rate and the interesting patterns and colours of Manfreda, and the habit and refinement of Agave. Varieties can be spotted, blotched or plain green in various shades and with an interesting texture, they can be a bit pointy, but definitely not as prickly as a cactus. Some of the varieties have really interesting leaf shape too, from slim and long to short and broad and wavy or straight too. 'Mission to Mars' is a striking variety of Mangave with intense red coloration to the leaves which gives rise to its name. The thick green leaves are heavily speckled with burgundy red and form a gently arching habit with margins that curl upward. This highlights the cinnamon-coloured spines giving the plant an appearance much like a tropical bromeliad. Compact in growth and visually stunning, Mangaves make a perfect patio plant, sitting happily in a pot through the summer on your decking or balcony, they will then make a perfect houseplant through the winter in a bright room. All varieties should be watered only sparingly as they are ideally suited to dessert, arid conditions and are lovers of warm temperatures - they make an ideal specimen for a greenhouse or as a houseplant for a bright rooms - indeed anything less than 65F will result in the plant becoming dormant. Supplied as an established plant in a 15cm pot, ready for immediate potting on. Eventual height and width 25cm x 55cm (10 x 22in).Top Tips- Overwintering plants should be kept them cool with the soil barely moist. In spring, return them to the garden and reintroduce to full sun gradually to prevent scorching. Plants will colour up better in sunlight outdoors.Care GuidePlanting Advice for Mangave:- Using a gritty compost, plant into a container.- Firm the soil and add a gravel mulch to the top of the soil- Water well and leave to settle for 2-4 weeks before watering again when the soil is dryAftercare Advice from Mangave:- During the summer water regularly at roughly fortnightly intervals when the compost is dry. In winter, reduce to a maximum of once a month, and then only lightly.- Keep the plants in a bright, unheated room or conservatory over winter and then move back outside during the summer.- Feeding is not normally required, although during their growing season, they won’t object, and you should add light nitrogen feed once a fortnight.Pruning Advance for Mangave:- No pruning is needed. Any leaves that have dies back should be removed with a sharp pair of secateurs.Planting Time:April - AugustAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. A previous Winner of the Plant of the Year award at RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Soft Caress is a compact version of the familiar border plant but without the prickles. A superb specimen for a container or the front of the border near to pathways and doorways - especially as it has lost those spiky leaves! A lover of sunny areas, this dainty Mahonia will also make a fine addition to a partially shaded border too where it will reach a mature height and spread of just 1m x 1m while proving invaluable, year-round interest. Supplied as an established plant in a 19cm pot, ready for immediate planting.Top Tips- Thrives in light shade - try underplating with other shade tolerant plants such as BergeniaCare GuidePlanting Advice for your Mahonia eurybracteata 'Soft Caress':- Grow Mahonia 'Soft Caress' in a sunny, sheltered site in well-drained soil. Protect from frost and winds when young- Dig a planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once the shrub is in place.- We've found that a square hole is better than a round one as the new roots, once they reach the edges tend to grow in a circle round the circumference of the hole whereas when they reach the corners of a square hole, they find it easier to grow through.- Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain.- Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots then add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.- Place your shrub in the hole at the same level at the pot and refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).- Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball and water well.- Mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark etc.- If you're planting into pots, place some old rocks, stones or gravel in the bottom of the pot for drainage and ballast. Use the best compost you can buy and some sand or grit for drainage.Aftercare advice for Mahonia 'Soft Caress':- Keep plants well-watered while they establish, especially if planted up in a pot. Pruning Advice for Mahonia:- Mahonia needs no special pruning; only occasional maintenance is needed to remove any growth that has been damaged over winter- Every second year after flowering you can prune to size as required and to encourage bushier growthPlanting Time:February - NovemberFlowering Time:August - OctoberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. The luxurious blooms will attract a host of butterflies into your garden too as they are particularly fond of the rich nectar source found within the flowers. Supplied as an established plant in a 3L pot, ready for potting on or planting out.Top Tips- For improved and more abundant flowering, dead-head faded blooms where possible and avoid shade which reduces blooming.- Perfect for growing in a large container (remember to use ericaceous compost), just make sure that you feed and watered well and re-pot every couple of years.Care GuidePlanting Advice for Rhododendron 'Bollywood':- Rhododendrons can tolerate a more open site as long as they are sheltered from cold, drying winds and early morning sunlight.- Mulch plants and water deeply and regularly during dryer periods from July onwards.- Your Rhododendron should be planted slightly higher than it was in its pot into well-draining soil.- Rhododendrons need an acidic soil with a pH of around 5.5 in order to thrive.- Soils with pH higher than 5.5 should be acidified before planting or you can grow them in a container with ericaceous compost.Aftercare Advice for your 'Bollywood' Rhododendron':- Keep plants well-watered and apply a mulch to prevent the soil from drying out.Pruning Advice for Rhododendrons:- Naturally compact and well-behaved, your 'Bollywood' Rhododendron requires little pruning apart from the removal of spent blooms, taking them off right after blooming and before any branching buds begin to grow,.- Any dead or damaged branches can also be removed at this point.Planting Time:February - NovemberFlowering Time:April - MayAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. All heights listed are approximate and fully established plant heights may vary. The amount of foliage, buds or bloom on the plant will depend on what part of the season the product is purchased. Please see description below for full product details. What could be better than the sweet heady fragrance of Daphne in the garden! Eternal Fragrance's perfumed blooms are produced in abundance from April until October every year. It's a compact and slow growing variety so it is perfect for smaller gardens and this semi-evergreen Daphne produces flowers on new growth, meaning the creamy white blooms just keep on coming right through the summer! We've grown this superb plant on a little longer than those normally available from other online garden stores, to give you much better plant for your money. Grow it in a pot and place on the patio or near a garden path so you enjoy the delightful scent! Height and spread 90 cm (3ft). Supplied as an established plant in a 2Lpot ready for planting into your favourite container!Top Tips- Grown for their beautiful and intensely fragrant blooms, Daphnes are best planted near paths and doorways or at the front of borders where it is easy to enjoy their delicious fragrance when in flower.Care Guide- Plants will thrive in a sunny or part-shaded location with well drained soil. They don't like dry roots, so water regularly and deeply. Daphne will establish best if planted in the spring when the soil is warm - from March to October. Dig a hole twice the width of the rootball. Sprinkle in a handful of blood, fish and bone and work into the ground. If your soil is heavy add plenty of well rotted compost to the area and dig it in well. Horticultural sand/grit added to the mix is also beneficial. Place the plant into the hole, back-filling so that it is at the same depth as was in the pot. Fill around the root ball and firm the soil down gently but firmly. - Water well. - Grated plants should be planted with the join a couple of centimetres below the soil level. Where necessary after flowering, lightly trim to remove misplaced branches and maintain a compact habit, otherwise a quick clear-up of fallen leaves will suffice.Planting Time:March - OctoberFlowering Time:April - OctoberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire.
