Even before the fruit is ripe the large shrub or small tree adds a presence to the garden as branches are clothed with large, deeply lobed leaves. It is also hardy and drought resistant. Bring a little bit of the exotic into your garden while giving your health and wellbeing a boost by growing grapes, kiwis, and other exotic fruits. Supplied as a standard form Fig tree, at 70-100cm tall, with a bout 50cm of clear stem, and a shaped 2-year-old head on top.Top Tips- Keep your fig containerised or keep the roots restricted for the best crops.Care GuidePlanting Advice for Fig Brown Turkey:- Pot-grown shrubs can be planted at any time of the year as long as the soil is not waterlogged or frozen. If in doubt, err towards spring but remember to keep pots well-watered so that the soil does not dry out.- Shrub roots generally tend to spread out rather than down, so dig a planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting, and mix some well rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill one the shrub is in place.- We've found that a square hole is better than a round one as the new roots, once they reach the edges tend to grow in a circle round the circumference of the hole whereas when they reach the corners of a square hole, they find it easier to grow through.- Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain.- Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.- Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.- Place your shrub in the hole at the same level at the pot.- Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).- Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball and water well.- Mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark etc.- Alternatively plant in a large container filled with good quality, soil-based compost.Aftercare Advice for your Ficus:- If you’re planting in spring or summer, water well and regularly for the first few months.- Once planted, keep the area free of competing weeds and grass for the first couple of growing seasons.Pruning Advice for Brown Turkey Fig:- This standard tree should be pruned to keep its shape and size. When pruning, aim for a balanced top that allows light into the centre of the canopy.- Prune twice a year:- Early spring: remove any branches that spoil the shape, or any that are crossing or damaged, along with any suckers appearing from the ground or lower stem. If needed cut back one or two branches that have become too long and bare to a 5cm (2in) stub to stimulate new growth from the base of the branch.- Early summer: pinch out the new growth at five or six leaves. Do not prune later growth.Planting Time:All yearFlowering Time:March - AprilFruiting Time:August - SeptemberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. All heights listed are approximate and fully established plant heights may vary. The amount of foliage, buds or bloom on the plant will depend on what part of the season the product is purchased. Please see description below for full product details. No, your eyes are not deceiving you - this amazing hardy Hibiscus standard tree actually does have 3 colours on the same tree, and will stay that way too. Hibiscus are often propagated by grafting, and the clever nurserymen have grafted 3 individual different colours - blue, pink and white - to the top of the standard stem. Usually they would graft 3 of the same colour, but in an experimental moment, created this delightful result. Quite cleverly, all 3 varieties have been selected carefully so they grow at similar rates, and no one colour will dominate the tree. This is a more reliable method than the sometimes offered 3 colours plaited together. All that your Hibiscus will need from you is an annual trim to shape, and they will stay in this lovely mix for years. Hibiscus syriacus is totally hardy in the UK, but thrives best in hot, sunny spots, and responds particularly well to heavy feeding, especially with a feed rich in trace elements. Flowering in August and September, prepare to amaze your friends and neighbours with this horticultural wonder!Top Tips- Feed weekly in spring and summer with a balanced feed with micronutrients.Care Guide- Grow in a sheltered spot in full sun with a humus-rich moist soil, keep well-watered as these plants don't like to dry out.- Happy in a large container as long as you keep it well-watered.- Protect the crown with a dry mulch through the winter months.- Trim any dead or damaged growth each year in mid spring and remove faded flowers. Hibiscus flower on the current season's growth, so pruning encourages them to flower prolifically.- Hibiscus can be bare of leaves right up until May, so don't think that your plant has expired - keep it well watered and it will burst into life when ready!Planting Time:April - JulyFlowering Time:July - SeptemberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. This product is offered for sale for home delivery exclusively via our website only. The images represent established plants, the supplied product may be younger. All heights listed are approximate and fully established plant heights may vary. The amount of foliage, buds or bloom on the plant will depend on what part of the season the product is purchased. Please see description below for full product details. The canary-yellow blooms of the Flowering Mimosa Tree are a spectacular sight from January to April every year, where hundreds of bobbly yellow blooms smother the branches of the Mimosa tree in a lemon haze, almost hiding the stunning grey green filigree foliage that makes this tree a handsome year round feature in the garden. Set among a ball of fern-like leaves on a standard stem, the eye-catching pom-pom blooms not only look a picture but carry a heavenly fragrance and provide a valuable nectar source for friendly insects that emerge in milder weather. Widely seen across southern Europe, this variety will thrive outdoors in most of the UK too and is a great plant for conservatories or sunny corners of a room indoors in regions prone to severe frost - altogether a super tree to own! It's a great choice for a large container too producing a really unique feature tree and if you buy a pair you can frame doorways and entrances.Care GuidePlanting Advice for Mimosa:- Grow mimosa in a sunny, sheltered site in well-drained, neutral to acid soil. Protect from frost and winds.- Best planted in the spring, after all danger of frosts has passed, so that new wood is given the longest possible ripening period before its first winter.- If you garden in an exposed or frost-prone area, then Mimosa is best grown in a large pot where it will make a great conservatory plant and should be watered only occasionally over winter.- Dig a planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once the shrub is in place.- Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain.- Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.- Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.- Place your shrub in the hole at the same level at the pot and refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).- Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball and water well.- Mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark etc.- If you're planting into pots, place some old rocks, stones or gravel in the bottom of the pot for drainage and ballast.- Use the best ericaceous compost you can buy and some sand or grit for drainage. Aftercare Advice for Mimosa:- Hardy to -10°C you'll need to provide shelter from the worst of the winter weather as Mimosa does not like the cold.- If damaged by cold weather, it should regrow from the base as a multi-stem, which is ideal if planted in a small garden as it will restrict its growth.- All new growth is more susceptible to damage from cold weather, so provide adequate frost protection for the first two years to help it survive. Pruning Advice for Mimosa:- Pruning is not necessary apart from to remove any branches that are dead or damaged. Remove any shoots that appear along the stem to keep it clean.Planting Time:February - NovemberFlowering Time:March - MayAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire.
