Commonly known as String of Hearts and it?s easy to see why! The long, trailing stems are adorned with evergreen heart-shaped leaves ? each variegated with silver and green above and dark purple undersides.
Recent Lily breeding has created some huge and beautifully coloured Lilies and Lily 'Heartstrings' is one such introduction. Combining bright yellow with vibrant pink, this is a lily that demands attention. Lilies are one of the most graceful and beautiful of the garden bulbs and 'Heartstrings' is no exception - an Asiatic type lily, it's large and upright facing and produces around 5 flowers per plant. A little later flowering than other types, you can expect blooms at the end of June and into July from its sturdy 1.2m stems. Short and strong enough to grow in pots, yet tall enough to cut flowers each summer, this lily is versatile, reliable and very hardy. Plant en masse in large pots or in groups for maximum impact, or maybe just dot them round your garden to brighten up drab spots. Plant in spring, and they'll return year after year, getting bigger and bigger. Great value, easy to grow and truly stunning, they're worth a place in your garden. Supplied as a pack of 10 bulbs, ready for immediate planting.
The String of Pearls plant is an apt name, with its round, succulent-like leaves carried down long, slender stems. Despite its delicate appearance, this unusual succulent house plant is a vigorous grower, quickly creeping across the surface of the pot, then cascading down the side. Its trailing stems can reach 2-3 ft (60-90 cm). If long stems become straggly, you can cut them off, this type pruning will help encourage new growths and you can propagate cuttings too. Light and Water Keep in bright light with some direct sunlight. Although beautiful, it can be a little fussy when it comes to care. It likes the soil on the dryer side as it is very vulnerable to rot, and it needs to be in a consistently warm, bright spot. In winter, when less light is available, reduce watering to an absolute minimum. Try watering your plant to keep it moist during growing seasons (spring, summer) and cut back in winter to just enough so the soil doesn’t dry out. Beads that look flat are a sign that the soil is too dry. Give it a good drink but take care not to over water. This succulent will not tolerate soggy soil.
Love will be in the air, literally with its heart shaped leaves with this charming, trailing semi-succulent vine. The heart shaped leaves grow with a delightful green lace pattern that grow in opposite pairs along a trailing vine. The pinkish-purple undersides of the leaves and stems add a romantic hue. Not truly a succulent, but it does store water in its stems and plant care is very similar to that of a succulent. String of Hearts is extremely easy to look after and very tolerant of neglect. It is a perfect plant for for hanging baskets. These are suited to hotter climates so can live outdoors but also do better indoors in temperate or colour climates. It’s a fast grower so place up high and it will quickly cascade its vines down. Feel free to prune any vines which are not looking so good (long vines, little leaves) redistribute the plant’s resources away from sad growths as well as keeping the length in check. Light and Water They like most light conditions, do best in bright indirect light, but can also do well in moderate shade. Water when the soil dries out completely and when you do, make sure it drains completely as it does not suit its roots being waterlogged. Please note: String of hearts vines are coiled in the packaging by the growers to protect them in transit. On opening, we recommend gently unfurling the coils and teasing apart the vines around the pot. If you rush this stage, you risk losing a lot of your vines. Let the coils hang for several days before continuing to gently separate the vines (patience is a virtue). Some leaf loss is unavoidable; however, they are fast growing plants and will regenerate quickly.
An exceptional variety that is early to crop and has a long picking season, 'Polestar' produces high yields of smooth runner bean pods that have a sweet flavour and crisp, fleshy texture. If not left too long on the vine, these beans are stringless, so for best taste and texture, pick when they reach 15-20cm (6-8in) in length. A reliable and long-standing favourite of vegetable growers, this heavy cropping variety will produce plenty of delicious fresh beans for your plate and plenty more for the freezer. Versatile and nutritious, they are a classic cooked veg, but the young beans also taste great raw - try shredding or slicing them into a salad or using as a baton for dips. For best results, sow the seeds indoors in pots from April to May for transplanting outside in May to June; or sow from April to May outdoors, directly into their cropping position. To get the growing season off to an earlier start, sow them in containers in your greenhouse. The plants produce pretty red flowers, which are very attractive to bees and other beneficial insects. Grow alongside sweet peas as these will draw in more insects that will help pollinate the runner beans and produce an even bigger crop. As well as 'Polestar' being a rewarding bean to grow, the beans are highly nutritious as they are rich in vitamin C and a good source of fibre. Trim and blanch surplus crops to store in an airtight container or bag in the freezer. They will freeze well, retaining good flavour and texture when cooked from frozen. Supplied as a packet of 50 (approx.) seeds ready to plant indoors in individual pots or outdoors in their growing position. Being deep-rooted, runner beans will thrive in well-dug, fertile, moisture-retentive but well-draining soil, in a sunny and sheltered position. Successive sowings every 2-3 weeks will achieve an extended cropping. Beans will be ready to harvest from July to October, 12-16 weeks after sowing.

Senecio herreianus, also known as the string-of-pearls or string-of-beads plant, is a trailing, succulent vine and one of the rising stars of social media sharing! Looking just like a string of green beads, it's perfect for hanging baskets or cascading from shelves. The String of Beads appreciates room to trail and is perfectly photogenic. The pea-sized leaves (which allow for the storage of water while at the same time minimising water loss) are produced on trailing stems which can grow 6090 cm (2-3 ft). In its natural habitat, the stems trail on the ground, rooting where they touch and forming a dense mat. Each rounded leaf has a thin band of dark green tissue on the side known as an 'epidermal window' which allows light to enter and irradiate the inside of the leaf, effectively increasing the area for photosynthesis - a clever plant indeed. Senecio blooms during the summer with clusters of small white flowers with colourful stamens. The flowers last about a month and are said to smell like cinnamon and other spices to some people. Easy to grow and low maintenance, like most succulents the string of beads will tolerate infrequent watering and just a few hours of direct sunlight every day. Good soil drainage is essential though to prevent problems and we recommend that a cactus mix is used when potting. Please note that the decorative pot is not included.Care GuideBest grown in bright light with some direct sun in well-draining compost. Keep lightly watered during the growing season (spring to autumn) and cut back in winter, watering just enough to prevent the soil from drying out. Beads that look flat are a sign that the soil is too dry. Take care not to overwater as it will not tolerate soggy soil. As a succulent, the String of Pearls will not tolerate the cold and needs a minimum of 5C being frost tender. It can be grown outside in the summer months, but keep it shaded from the hot midday sun. Plants can be fed once a month during their growing season with a half-strength liquid feed. This product is offered for sale for home delivery exclusively via our website only.
