This superb Clematis was launched at the 2017 Chelsea Flower Show and was judged as most admired plant by visitors to the show. The fully double blooms have the appearance of cactus dahlias reaching 4in across or more. Petals are blue purple - each one delicately tipped with a lime cream splash. Opening slowly they give a spiky effect to the flowers which develop into gloriously exotic rosettes. Early to bloom Taiga flowers and flowers all summer long. This is a real statement plant for the garden and uniquely unusual too so sure to be loved by neighbours and friends. It's the ideal plant to grow on an obelisk in a large container or in pride of place in the border scrambling up a trellis or pergola. It's easy to care for and pruning is simple - just cut each stem back to about 30cm in spring just above a pair of buds. this encourages the new growth on which the wonderful flowers are borne. Like most clematis Taiga like a sunny spot and will do best if roots are given a little shade by lower growing plants. Supplied as an established plant in 9cm pot, ready to pot on or plant out.
Japanese Tree Peonies really are on of the most majestic garden plants you can grow when inb full Summer flower - their huge papery flowers covering the tree. Yet depsite their fine foliage and paper-thin flowers, they are very robust and very hardy, and suprisingy easy to grow - although patience helps too, as they can be slow to really get going for a year or two after initial planting. Modern varieties are grafted, and all produce their classic huge flowers, up to 20cm *(8') across in late Spring and summer. Plant sraight into deep, well-drained soils (avoid growing in pots for best results), they are fairtly fuss free, and will produce flowers from 2-3 years time.
Bamboos can often strike fear into the heart of gardeners, as some are invasive, but fear not, this little bamboo is a very well behaved garden guest. Fargesia is one of the best types, as it is short, and has many small canes, and a much more delicate appearance than more thuggish members of the family. In fact. it's juicy new shoots are the stuff Pandas dream of!A relatively newly introduced dwarf bamboo, it produces masses of new culms (as the new shoots are called), which have a rusty tinge. They then green up, and unfurl masses of tiny thin green leaves, which are evergreen so last all year round. The canes are very slender and thin, so they gently arch over, hence it's common name of 'Fountain Bamboo'. They are spectacular in big pots on the patio, and an ideal bamboo for small gardens. They also form a neat, dense and easy-care non-trim hedge, reaching 2M and no more over many years. Just don't let them dry out in hot, dry Summers that's all, otherwise they require almost no care at all - what could be simpler? Plant them where the sun can shine through the canes, or where you can see or hear the breeze gently wafting and rustling through all year - a very sensual plant indeed!
It's not hard to see wy these are called 'Foxtail Lilies' - their huge long flower spikes are a dusky orange to red colour, and like a fluffy Fox's brush! 'Ruiter Hybriods' were one of the first series to be bred, and contain a mix of shades. They flower in yellow, coppers and reds, to pink and creamy white, and all shades in between. Grown for their amazingly statuesque, tall flower spikes borne in high summer they add a classic cottage garden feel and height to any mixed border garden. They also make stunning cut flowers in a vase, and will establish into slow-spreading clumps every year. Often perceived as tricky to grow, the secret is in planting well. Although they are roots, they need to be buried like bulbs, with the roots well spread out. Ensure they have plenty of winter drainage, but good sun and warmth in summer. Supplied as 3 bare roots ready to plant in autumn, growing to a height of 1.2 m (4 ft) and spread of 25 cm (10 in).
This super new rose has been named after the late Captain Sir Tom Moore, who raised almost £40m for the NHS, before he sadly passed away, aged 100, on February 2. Sir Tom understandably captured the nations heart, and this rose is deservedly named in his honour. From the renowned Harkness Roses Breeding programme, the 'Captain Tom Rose' is a fabulous 'Hybrid Tea' variety, producing masses of perfectly formed, gorgeously scented, double flowered red roses from May to October each year. Perfect for planting in pots, as well as beds and borders it is totally winter hardy and will grow 3ft high and 2ft wide; it is the ideal addition to your garden but also makes a thoughtful gift for any occasion. What is more, for every rose sold, £2.50 is donated to The Captain Tom Foundation - Charity number 1189808. Hannah Ingram-Moore, co-founder of The Captain Tom Foundation, said: "When we were first approached about the 'Captain Tom Rose', we really liked the idea as my father spent a lot of time in our garden in his shed, and the funds raised will enable the foundation to continue to spread my father's message of hope." The Captain Tom Foundation supports charities including the Royal British Legion, Mind, Helen & Douglas House Hospice. Supplied as 1 x bare root plant, ready to plant out.

The amazing and hot off the presses New Basket Watering Fountain kit solves a problem many of us experience in last summer's heat wave - getting and keeping enough water where it is needed in your hanging baskets. It's the latest innovation by the clever folks at Plantopia - they who invented the best-selling Easy Fill Hanging Baskets - this clever device takes water to the heart of the basket, slowly releasing it where it is needed in the root zone, through small holes that drop water out. Designed to specially clip fit onto the bottom of 12in and 15in Easy Fill baskets, they will also do the same job on traditional wire mesh, rattan or other baskets, and even larger pots and containers too. The flared funnel end sits neatly and unobtrusively on the edge of the basket, making it easy to fill with a hose or watering can, quickly getting feed and water to the inside of the basket - hard to reach when watering from above. Saves you time and water too! A great value, Great British invention that every proud hanging basket grower should have. Sure to win Gardening Awards this season.
