Eremurus Ruiter Hybrids Foxtail Lily
  • £7.99

It's not hard to see wy these are called 'Foxtail Lilies' - their huge long flower spikes are a dusky orange to red colour, and like a fluffy Fox's brush! 'Ruiter Hybriods' were one of the first series to be bred, and contain a mix of shades. They flower in yellow, coppers and reds, to pink and creamy white, and all shades in between. Grown for their amazingly statuesque, tall flower spikes borne in high summer they add a classic cottage garden feel and height to any mixed border garden. They also make stunning cut flowers in a vase, and will establish into slow-spreading clumps every year. Often perceived as tricky to grow, the secret is in planting well. Although they are roots, they need to be buried like bulbs, with the roots well spread out. Ensure they have plenty of winter drainage, but good sun and warmth in summer. Supplied as 3 bare roots ready to plant in autumn, growing to a height of 1.2 m (4 ft) and spread of 25 cm (10 in).

Ponytail Palm
  • £26.99

Affectionally called the “Ponytail Palm” for its tall stalk and the wispy trailing leaves growing from its top or sometimes the “Elephant’s foot” for the way it branches once it reaches maturity. With multiple tufts of curling leaves, not only does this offer a talking point for its unusual looks, it's easy to care for! Suitable for home offices, desks, or any well-lit room that could use a low maintenance plant. A slow grower too, but over the years if kept well it can reach heights of 2m with multiple branches become a real statement piece! Part of what makes this plant interesting to look at is the bulb-like base that holds onto water (which means you don't need to water it very often). This Ponytail Palm does not need humid air, so copes well with central-ly heated rooms. Light and Water Place in a well-lit room with some access to direct sunlight. Water well, making sure the excess water drains away freely. These plants dislike overwatering, so let the compost get quite dry before repeating the process again.

Donkey Tail
  • £29.99

Donkey’s Tail, Sedum morganianum ‘Burrito’, is a fantastic succulent, bearing thick trailing stems covered with overlapping, plump, blue-green leaves. Star-shaped flowers in pink or red may appear at the tips of stems in summer. Too tender for our climate, it’s typically grown as a houseplant, although may be moved outside in summer, just make sure you bring it back in during the winter. It makes an interesting addition to hanging baskets. Light and Water Keep it in a bright room with good sun exposure, anywhere from bright indirect light to low shade. These plants are used to climates where the soil drains the water quickly and the water is infrequent. So, wa-ter when the soil has completely dried out and when you do make sure it drains completely as they do not like to sit in water. Start with watering every 10-14 days and adjust this schedule depending on how warm your home is.
