A real gem for winter gardens, producing long lasting floral displays from late October through winter into spring. Clusters of really fragrant, pale to deep pink, long-lasting flowers just seem to keep going and going in winter! A compact shrub at 2.5m tall or so after 10 years, it is easy to manage, and very hardy once established. Some flowers may get frost damage in extreme cold, but new ones appear quickly, and the plant is unharmed. Preferring a sunny spot, it can be grown in large pots. Because of its stunning fragrance and winter displays, plant it close to where you can smell it and see it regularly!
Potentilla fruticosa 'Mount Everest is a Shrubby Cinquefoil, which are native cold regions of the Northern Hemisphere, making them ideal for British gardens. This hardy plant has delicate flowers, with five rounded white petals and pale yellow centres. It flowers all through the summer months, from May to September. A good option for small gardens, or as an addition to an alpine rockery. Easy to maintain and good drought tolerance, it is a wildlife friendly plant that will attract bees and butterflies. This Shrubby Cinquefoil is a nice plant for cottage or alpine gardens, even small ones. Potentilla fruticosa 'Limelight' is a hardy deciduous shrub with pretty white flowers, with yellow centres, and remains in bloom from May, all the way thorough to September.
