The Cot series of Apricot trees have taken the commercial fruit and gardening World by storm in the last 5 or so years, bringing exceptional crop yields and fruit quality. 'Tomcot' is one of the best for the UK climate, suited to our colder climates, where we get less accumulated sunshine, yet we get plenty of Winter chill to set buds. One of the key reasons it works well over here is it is late flowering, so avoids the late frosts that can afflict other Apricots. Yet, it catches up and still yields heavy crops of juicy, deepest orange fruits in the UK - perfect eaten when warmed by the sun straight off the tree, or for cooking and jam making. The tree is grafted onto dwarfing rootstock, a new dwarfing type keeping it short and manageable. To cap it all, 'Tomcot; is even self-fertile, so does not need a partner to produce heavy crops. You will get crops in 2 years of planting; this is a great opportunity to buy a tree of the size normally available only to commercial plantations. 'Tomcot' really will deliver big crops of fresh Apricots here in the UK.
An ultra compact, upright bush variety reaching only 30cm (12) in height. Tomato 'Cherry Kisses' produces good crops of sweet cherry tomatoes for continuous picking throughout summer. This compact variety is ideal for patio containers due to its compact habit and can even be grown on a sunny windowsill. Height and spread: 30cm (12)
This super new rose has been named after the late Captain Sir Tom Moore, who raised almost £40m for the NHS, before he sadly passed away, aged 100, on February 2. Sir Tom understandably captured the nations heart, and this rose is deservedly named in his honour. From the renowned Harkness Roses Breeding programme, the 'Captain Tom Rose' is a fabulous 'Hybrid Tea' variety, producing masses of perfectly formed, gorgeously scented, double flowered red roses from May to October each year. Perfect for planting in pots, as well as beds and borders it is totally winter hardy and will grow 3ft high and 2ft wide; it is the ideal addition to your garden but also makes a thoughtful gift for any occasion. What is more, for every rose sold, £2.50 is donated to The Captain Tom Foundation - Charity number 1189808. Hannah Ingram-Moore, co-founder of The Captain Tom Foundation, said: "When we were first approached about the 'Captain Tom Rose', we really liked the idea as my father spent a lot of time in our garden in his shed, and the funds raised will enable the foundation to continue to spread my father's message of hope." The Captain Tom Foundation supports charities including the Royal British Legion, Mind, Helen & Douglas House Hospice. Supplied as 1 x bare root plant, ready to plant out.
A striking coral red-skinned and fleshed variety with 23-25cm (9- 10in) long roots. The rich colour is due to a high level of lycopene, a healthy antioxidant. The colour is more intense and the flavour deepens on cooking, although slicing or grating 'Atomic Red' raw in salads adds unique colour and flavour. Strong foliage aids lifting.
