If in doubt, err towards spring but remember to keep pots well-watered so that the soil does not dry out.Care GuidePlanting Advice for Sweet Sunshine:- Dig a planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once the shrub is in place.- We've found that a square hole is better than a round one as the new roots, once they reach the edges tend to grow in a circle round the circumference of the hole whereas when they reach the corners of a square hole, they find it easier to grow through.- Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain.- Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.- Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.- Place your raspberry in the hole at the same level at the pot.- Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).- Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball and water well.- Perfect for growing in a container, simply place some old rocks, stones or gravel in the bottom of the pot for drainage and ballast, then use the best compost you can buy and some sand or grit for drainage.Pruning Advice for Sweet Sunshine:- This floricane raspberry will fruit on last year's stems in the summer.- In the autumn, cut down this years fruiting canes to the ground leaving the other new canes for the following years crop.Aftercare Advice for your Raspberry:- Feed during the growing season with a general-purpose fertiliser such as fish blood and bone and water regularly during the summer.- Cover the ripening fruit with netting to protect from birds.Planting Time:February - NovemberFlowering Time:May - JuneAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. The Weeping Fig is one of the most popular indoor plants, being somewhere between an ornamental tree and a shrub. It grows densely packed glossy leaves giving it a very stylish look. Very compact as well, it offers great value in the amount of green it brings to any space. Light and Water It’s very adaptable to differing light conditions, as it will tolerate most, but prefers bright indirect light. Avoid the extremes of direct sunlight (this can burn its leaves) and completely shaded areas. In terms of water, it likes humid environments and water when the top two inches of soil feels dry. So, frequent misting and a pebble water tray will help in keeping it humid, while checking the soil every 2-3 days to check for dryness. Do not let the soil dry out completely between watering as you always want to keep the soil moist. You can also encourage it to grow more strongly by giving it a feed with plant fertiliser once a month in spring and summer. It will grow naturally I a tree formation, but you can prune it to a desired shape as well.
