A truly unique and productive plant, this bonsai grape will produce bunches of white grapes year after year in virtually no space at all! These grapes originate in Sicily, where the old plants were dug up from the commercial fields and potted up - so they feature marvellous thick stems already and have a history of productivity! Naturally, grape vines are vigorous climbers but when trained into a bonsai form, the Vitis vinifera makes a much more compact shrub with a thick, heavily patterned trunk, with bunches of grapes hanging in decorative clusters. Grape vines are easy to care for and grow, needing just regular watering and feeding and a sunny position. Best grown outside spring to autumn, before being moved into a cooler room over the winter. Plants are self-fertile, and the grapes are ready to be picked when ripe in late summer to early autumn - the grapes are not affected in any way by the size of the tree. To maintain its shape, the grape bonsai should be pruned in early winter with a sharp pair of snips. Supplied as an established white grape plant in a 15cm pot, plants will grow as tall as you let them, but we recommend keeping it to a maximum 1.4m. Cut back annually to the woody stem to keep your Bonsai at 1m max to allow for new growth the following year.

'Cristo' is a softneck type garlic that has an intense but subtle flavour and elegant aroma - perfect for a wide variety of savoury dishes whether used raw in salad dressings or for cooking. Originating in France, this variety is well suited to the UK climate, producing large bulbs with papery white skins, with about 12 or more plump white cloves in each. Unlike hardneck types, softneck garlic doesn't produce flower stems but will mature sooner and usually has a milder, although interesting flavour. Softneck garlic also has better storage properties - up to 3 months or more in good condition after harvesting. The garlic that is most commonly sold in supermarkets is softneck - but don't be tempted to propagate shop-bought garlic as it will be more prone to disease and crop far less efficiently than plants grown from these superior horticultural quality bulbs. A worthy recipient of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, 'Cristo' is easy to grow and a reliable cropper - ideal for gardeners of any experience. Traditionally, garlic is planted on the shortest day of the year (21-22 December) and harvested on the longest (20-22 June), although it can be planted in the autumn or spring. Autumn plantings will produce earlier crops and although winter hardy, may benefit from protection from the cold - or can be grown in a greenhouse or tunnel. If planting in the spring, just wait until the frosts have gone before placing the cloves in the ground. 'Cristo' will thrive in a sunny spot in most well-draining soils. If your soil is heavy, prepare the plot in advance by digging in some well-rotted manure or garden compost (avoid using fresh manure) and also some sand or grit, to improve fertility and drainage. Alternatively, grow in good quality compost in raised beds, trugs or containers. Garlic doesn't take up much room, making it an ideal choice for small-space gardening. It is a good companion plant for roses and other plants or vegetables that are vulnerable to greenfly as its aroma will help to repel those little beasts! This brand-new type of strawberry is already taking leading restaurants by storm because of its exceptional, delicious tropical flavour, and now you can grow it at home! Whitecurant 'White Versailles' is an early cropper that produces an abundance of pale yellow fruits, eye-catching fruits. Pick in early summer and enjoy the tasty sweet flavour the whitecurrant has to offer. It is a very relaible cropper, and will provide a good yield year after year - it is just this reason that it has become so popular with the UK grow-your-own customers!
There really is something special and iconic about English Shrub Roses, which is the term for the old-fashioned type of classic rose with a very filled centre, their petals making the most remarkable patterns. New breeding over many years has made them much easier to grow in all gardens - big or small - either in larger pots or in borders and beds. This variety has been bred to have both a good fragrance, and superb disease resistance - not always possible with roses, but our growers have managed it! Best of all it is a repeat flowerer, and will bloom for 4-5 months with little dead-heading, although you may wish to keep them tidy. It's a little more vigorous and less formal than Hybrid Tea Roses, so mix them in with other shrubs in borders too. Supplied as 1 bare root plant, trimmed back to 30-35cm, dormant without leaves, to plant November to April.
The whitecurrant is very similar to its cousin, the redcurrant. However, whereas the redcurrant can be a rather tart, the whitecurrant is much, much sweeter whilst retaining a noticeable zing to its taste. As the name suggests, the fruit of 'Summer Pearls White' really does look like perfect little translucent pearls with a pale golden sheen, and they're deliciously sweet, juicy and tasty too! A perfect accompaniment to cereals and desserts or eaten straight from the bush, it's in cooking that these vitamin packed currants come into their own. They're so incredibly sweet that no added sugar is needed when making jams and pies. Best harvested by picking entire strings, they're absolutely delicious and long lasting in the fridge and freezer. Whitecurrants can be easily trained as cordons and espaliers against a wall or fence and are extremely attractive garden plants. Although they produce the sweetest tasting fruit when grown in full sun, they also do well in partial shade. So easy to grow, hardy and vigorous, cropping reliably whilst requiring little care. Supplied as and established plant in a 9cm pot and growing up to 1.5m (5ft), although it can be kept smaller through pruning.
