All heights listed are approximate and fully established plant heights may vary. The amount of foliage, buds or bloom on the plant will depend on what part of the season the product is purchased. Please see description below for full product details.Blessed with strongly scented flowers from late spring into early summer, French lilacs are desirable deciduous shrubs that really make their presence felt. Appearing in great profusion at the end of branches clothed with heart shaped green leaves, the tiny, packed clusters of purple buds open to reveal a mass of brightly coloured tubular flowers that smell great and act as a magnet to wildlife. A real sun lover, lilacs can be grown in just about any soil or can be raised in large containers. For a sensational floral display, year after year, deadhead when two new shoots appear beneath faded blooms and remove any wayward branches to keep a compact shape. Supplied as 3 established plants in 9cm pots, 1 each of 3 colours pink, white and lavender-blue.Top Tips- Plant them where you can smell the gorgeous flowers!Care Guide- Grow lilac plants in fertile, well drained soil in full sun.- Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established.- Lilac can be pruned in winter or spring by removing any damaged, diseased or misplaced stems before lightly shaping to retain the standard form and height. In mid-summer, faded flowers can be removed from the plants.- After pruning, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost to the base of the lilac. To Plant:- Shrub roots generally tend to spread out rather than down, so dig a planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting, and mix some well rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill one the shrub is in place.- We've found that a square hole is better than a round one as the new roots, once they reach the edges tend to grow in a circle round the circumference of the hole whereas when they reach the corners of a square hole, they find it easier to grow through.- Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain.- Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.- Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.- Place your shrub in the hole at the same level at the pot.- Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).- Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball and water well.- Mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark etc.Planting Time:All yearFlowering Time:May - JuneAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. Bottlebrush Plant Callistemon Citrinus
  • £14.99

This product is offered for sale for home delivery exclusively via our website only. The images represent established plants, the supplied product may be younger. All heights listed are approximate and fully established plant heights may vary. The amount of foliage, buds or bloom on the plant will depend on what part of the season the product is purchased. Please see description below for full product details.Who could resist touching the fluffy red cylindrical flower heads that drip from the branches of this evergreen shrub during late spring and summer? Not many. But this native of Australia has more going for it than just its 'stroke me' qualities. The tiny leaves that cover its arching branches release a delicious lemony scent when brushed, and its arching branches provide all year round interest. Wherever you plant it its perfect as specimen in the lawn, grown against a wall or fence, or planted in large pots. A real sun lover, give it the brightest spot possible. You need to water a bottlebrush for its first season, but when established plants are extremely drought tolerant. Despite heralding from warmer climes this plant is incredibly tough and will easily cope with temperatures down to -50C. Protect it in harder winters by covering with fleece or grow in pots so it can be moved indoors (a shed, front porch, garage or conservatory would be ideal).Top Tips- Callistemon will flower best when grown in full sun in moist but well drained soil in a sheltered position away from cold winds.- Outdoors, Callistemon (Bottlebrush) look great in mixed borders especially if combined with other drought tolerant plants such as salvias and lavenders.Care GuidePlanting Advice for Callistemon Bottlebrush:- Generally unfussy as to soil, poor soil benefits from the addition of plenty of organic matter.- Once established plants don't need special attention and are generally problem-free.- Pot-grown trees can be planted at any time of the year as long as the soil is not waterlogged or frozen.- Dig a square planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once the shrub is in place.- Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain.- Remove your Callistemon from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.- Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.- Place your tree in the hole at the same level at the pot, refill, firm, and water well.- Mulch around the base of the plant.- Plants can also be grown in a pot using a good quality soil-based compost.Aftercare Advice for your Bottlebrush:- Although drought-tolerant, Callistemon requires regular watering.- Feed with a general-purpose liquid feed in the growing season and top dress in the spring.- Callistemon can get out of hand under glass so restrictive pruning may be necessary to keep their shape.- Hardy in the UK down to -4°C! In very exposed sites, a fleece cover and mulch will see them safely through the winter. Potted plants can be moved to a cool conservatory or greenhouse.Pruning Advice for Callistemon:- Lightly prune after flowering to keep them under control, cutting just behind the spent bloom.- Callistemons in general don't like hard-pruning, so just remove spent flowerheads immediately after flowering, or trim new growth to maintain shape.Planting Time:All yearFlowering Time:June - JulyAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. The stunning 'Flamingo Willow', or Salix integra 'Hakuro-nishiki' to give it it's correct botanical name, produces a stunning spring and summer ritual, bursting forth from bare branches, often with catkins on, into a mass of amazing creamy pink variegated and tipped new shoots, set against white mottled and marbled leaves, keeping that lovely contrast all summer. It is really hardy and easy to grow, simply hack it back to shape in late autumn, it is great in large pots as a feature plant, but needs to be grown where you can see it's delicate colours. It's not fussy at all for soil conditions, but do not let it dry out.Care Guide- Grow in full sun is moist, well-drained soil - willows love moisture so you can be sure that they'll be happy with a regular dousing.- Container plants especially should be kept well-watered, however don't let them sit in permanent wet.- Pruning is simply a case of a light trim in spring to reshape the canopy.Planting Time:January - JuneSeptember - NovemberFruiting Time:October - DecemberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. All heights listed are approximate and fully established plant heights may vary. The amount of foliage, buds or bloom on the plant will depend on what part of the season the product is purchased. Please see description below for full product details.Everyone knows and loves a Buddleia for their sheer flower power and magnetic allure for butterflies - hence their common name The Butterfly Bush. Here is a new twist on a much-loved favourite - 3 separate colours on one. Our clever growers have skilfully matched 3 different coloured plants - one white, one pink and one purple blue - and grown them close together in one pot. As the plant develops, the stems intermingle, creating a most intriguing mixed colour effect which will get the neighbours talking! Retaining their magical attraction to butterflies, you can look forward to peacock and tortoiseshell butterflies aplenty this summer - and for years beyond. Buddleia is one of the most robust and easy-care shrubs to grow requiring almost no maintenance - we suggest a simple hack back to about 30cm each spring before new leaves appear, but hey, if you forget, it will be fine too! Very hardy, and disease free, grow in sunny spots or large pots.Top Tips- Buddleia plants are low maintenance, but they do benefit from pruning in early spring to maintain a nice compact plant.Care Guide- Plant Buddleia in garden borders in any moist, well drained garden soil, in full sun or semi-shade.- Alternatively grow buddleja plants in patio containers using soil-based compost such as John Innes No.3.- Prune Buddleia in March, once the hardest frosts are over, as the new growth begins to show.- Firstly, remove any dead, diseased, damaged, or weak stems, before pruning all off the remaining stems back to form a low framework.- Drought tolerant once established.Planting Time:All yearFlowering Time:July - AugustAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. Please see description below for full product details. One of the best and easiest compact growing Acers for smaller gardens, pots and patios, this gorgeous red foliaged small tree offers so much interest throughout the year. The 'Dissectum' part of the name refers to the very feathery leaves, which emerge in early spring the most gorgeous burgundy red, and remain in deep colour all summer, turning redder still in autumn. A slow growing, spreading tree with the perfect balanced habit, it is great as a border specimen, or in a large pot, where it can remain for 10 years quite happily - and you can take it with you if you move house!. A great investment for any garden.Care GuidePlanting Advice for your Acer palmatum 'Garnet':- If your soil is slightly acidic, then you have the perfect conditions to grow Japanese maples - however do not worry if you have not as most can be grown in other soils as long as they are not wet, dry or very alkaline.- If growing in a pot, use a 50/50 mix of ericaceous and multipurpose compost if you can - although again don't worry overly about this.- If planting in the garden, prepare a wide hole and loosen the soil with a fork, incorporating organic matter as needed to improve moisture retention and condition.- Plant your Acer so that the top of the root ball is just slightly below ground level.- Fill the planting hole with soil and heel well in. Water well.Aftercare advice for your Acer palmatum:- Leaf colour is best in partial shade, although full sun can be tolerated as long as the plant is well watered.- Avoid exposed places as leaves can suffer with windburn (scorch), especially if the plant is dry.- Allow your Japanese Maple to get used to a whole day in the sun by starting it off in the shade, then standing it in its final sunny spot (in pot or in the garden soil) for one hour longer every day for a week.- Water regularly and deeply.- Feed with our specialist Acer feed.- Mulch every couple of years with well-rotted garden compost or well-rotted manure or leaf mould.Pruning advice for your Acer 'Garnet':- Acers generally do not need pruning, just remove any branches that are dead or damaged.Planting Time:March - OctoberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. The canary-yellow blooms of the Flowering Mimosa Tree are a spectacular sight from January to April every year. Hundreds of bobbly yellow blooms smother the branches of the Mimosa tree in a lemon haze, almost hiding the stunning grey green filigree foliage that makes this tree a handsome year round feature in the garden. The eye-catching pom-pom blooms not only look a picture but carry a heavenly fragrance and provide a valuable nectar source for friendly insects that emerge in milder weather. Altogether a super tree to own! Widely seen across southern Europe, this variety will thrive outdoors in most of the UK too and is a great plant for conservatories or sunny corners of a room indoors in regions prone to severe frost. It's a great choice for a large container too producing a really unique feature tree.Care GuidePlanting Advice for Mimosa:- Grow mimosa in a sunny, sheltered site in well-drained, neutral to acid soil. Protect from frost and winds.- Best planted in the spring, after all danger of frosts has passed, so that new wood is given the longest possible ripening period before its first winter.- If you garden in an exposed or frost-prone area, then Mimosa is best grown in a large pot where it will make a great conservatory plant and should be watered only occasionally over winter.- Dig a planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once the shrub is in place.- Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain.- Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.- Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.- Place your shrub in the hole at the same level at the pot and refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).- Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball and water well.- Mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark etc.- If you're planting into pots, place some old rocks, stones or gravel in the bottom of the pot for drainage and ballast.- Use the best ericaceous compost you can buy and some sand or grit for drainage.Aftercare Advice for Mimosa:- Hardy to -10°C you'll need to provide shelter from the worst of the winter weather as Mimosa does not like the cold.- If damaged by cold weather, it should regrow from the base as a multi-stem, which is ideal if planted in a small garden as it will restrict its growth.- All new growth is more susceptible to damage from cold weather, so provide adequate frost protection for the first two years to help it survive.Pruning Advice for Mimosa:- Pruning is not necessary apart from to remove any branches that are dead or damagedPlanting Time:March - JuneFlowering Time:March - MayAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. Callistemon Viminalis 'Hot Pink'
  • £17.99

This product is offered for sale for home delivery exclusively via our website only. The images represent established plants, the supplied product may be younger. All heights listed are approximate and fully established plant heights may vary. The amount of foliage, buds or bloom on the plant will depend on what part of the season the product is purchased. Please see description below for full product details. This is a fabulous new colour addition to the amazing Bottlebrush family. No prizes for guessing where they get their name from - their classic spring flowers zing with intense colour. Usually red, this is the first widely available pink, and what a neon-pink it is too! Each flower is made up of thousands of thin stamens, each pollen rich, so become a mecca for bees and butterflies early in the season. Flowering in spring, it is great to attract early season pollinators to fruit - and sometimes has a mini flush of flowers again in autumn. Grow in a pot in a warm and sunny spot, in a well-drained mix. Although hardy to -5C or so, we would advise some winter protection, as early leaves and growth can be damaged.Top Tips- Callistemon will flower best when grown in full sun in moist but well drained soil in a sheltered position away from cold winds.- Outdoors, Callistemon (Bottlebrush) look great in mixed borders especially if combined with other drought tolerant plants such as salvias and lavenders.Care GuidePlanting Advice for Callistemon Bottlebrush:- Generally unfussy as to soil, poor soil benefits from the addition of plenty of organic matter.- Once established plants don't need special attention and are generally problem-free.- Pot-grown trees can be planted at any time of the year as long as the soil is not waterlogged or frozen.- Dig a square planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once the shrub is in place.- Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain.- Remove your Callistemon from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.- Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.- Place your tree in the hole at the same level at the pot, refill, firm, and water well.- Mulch around the base of the plant.- Plants can also be grown in a pot using a good quality soil-based compost.Aftercare Advice for your Bottlebrush:- Although drought-tolerant, Callistemon requires regular watering.- Feed with a general-purpose liquid feed in the growing season and top dress in the spring.- Callistemon can get out of hand under glass so restrictive pruning may be necessary to keep their shape.- Hardy in the UK down to -4°C! In very exposed sites, a fleece cover and mulch will see them safely through the winter. Potted plants can be moved to a cool conservatory or greenhouse.Pruning Advice for Callistemon:- Lightly prune after flowering to keep them under control, cutting just behind the spent bloom.- Callistemons in general don't like hard-pruning, so just remove spent flowerheads immediately after flowering, or trim new growth to maintain shape.Planting Time:March - AugustFlowering Time:March - MayAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. Lilac Syringa Palibin Standard

This product is offered for sale for home delivery exclusively via our website only. The images represent established plants, the supplied product may be younger. All heights listed are approximate and fully established plant heights may vary. The amount of foliage, buds or bloom on the plant will depend on what part of the season the product is purchased. Please see description below for full product details.A stunning addition to add to your patio, this fantastic new dwarf Lilac is just the thing for small gardens or for sprucing up patios and decking areas in a large pot! Ideal for adding colour, fragrance and a beautiful twist on other Lilac varieties that can often take over your garden, this ‘double flowering’, compact lilac will bloom first in May, flush through summer, then reach a second crescendo of colour in September. Because Palibin is a dwarf variety of the classic lilac, it won’t take over your beds and borders and will not grow too tall meaning you can really enjoy the beautiful flowers and fragrance with very little maintenance required. A deadheading of faded flowers will keep the lilac flowering for as long as possible, and there’ll be little to no pruning needed thanks to its dwarf and compact nature. It’s slow growing, easy to care for, perfect for pots and very hardy too - why not try growing as a fragrant flowering hedge for something a little bit different?!This plant has been skilfully fashioned into an impressive standard by the grower and will make an instant specimen in your garden. Height 80-100cm (33-36in).Top Tips- Pot-grown shrubs can be planted at any time of the year as long as the soil is not waterlogged or frozen. If in doubt, err towards spring but remember to keep pots well-watered so that the soil does not dry out.Care Guide- Grow lilac plants in fertile, well drained soil in full sun.- Palibin standards can be grown in containers if you wish using a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3.- Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established.- Lilac can be pruned in winter or spring by removing any damaged, diseased or misplaced stems before lightly shaping to retain the standard form and height. In mid-summer, faded flowers can be removed from the plants.- After pruning, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost to the base of the lilac.- To Plant- Shrub roots generally tend to spread out rather than down, so dig a planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting, and mix some well rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill one the shrub is in place.- We've found that a square hole is better than a round one as the new roots, once they reach the edges tend to grow in a circle round the circumference of the hole whereas when they reach the corners of a square hole, they find it easier to grow through.- Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain.- Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.- Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.- Place your shrub in the hole at the same level at the pot.- Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).- Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball.- Water well.- Mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark etc.Planting Time:All yearFlowering Time:May - SeptemberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. • £14.99

The perfect softest powder pink patio shrub, Lavatera 'Barnsley baby' has taken the huge flower power of it's vigorous cousins, and focussed it all on a much smaller and naturally compact form. It is very easy to grow, very tough and robust in rain and shine, and in summer produces lovely candyfloss pink flower displays that smother the plant, as the strings of buds open from bottom to top of each and every stem. Perfect in 20-30cm patio pots, simply keep watered and fed monthly, and cut back once a year before new growth starts - a very low maintenance but high reward plant indeed.Top Tips- Mallows can be slow to show signs of life in early spring, so you'll need a little more patience than normal before it returns to bud - don't worry it's a late riser!Care GuidePlanting Advice for Lavetera 'Barnsley baby':- Grow in full sun in moist, well-drained soil. Alternatively, can be grown successfully in a pot.- Before planting, prepare the soil by digging over and removing any weeds.- Individually knock out each plant from its container. Look at the roots – if they are circling around the compost, it is best to tease them out. To do this, push your fingers into the rootball along the bottom edge and pull. Do this in a couple of places. This should encourage the roots to spread into the surrounding soil.- Next use a trowel or spade to create a hole just deep and wide enough to set in the rootball.- The aim is to bury just the roots, leaving the bases of the stems (when in growth in summer) or the shoots (in spring) above ground.- Firm back around the soil, using your hand for small clumps and your heel on larger areas.- Water in well to settle the soil and prevent desiccation.Aftercare Advice for your Tree Mallow 'Barnsley Baby':- Please note that plants will die back over the winter months, emerging from the soil again in the spring.- Your mallow will need regular water when first planted until established. After that, they fairly maintenance free.- Feed plants regularly during the growing season with a general purpose feed such as our Blooming Fast soluble fertiliser.Pruning Advice for Barnsley Baby:- Pruning lavatera is best undertaken in spring when all risk of frost has passed and new buds are swelling.- Prune all stems back to about 30cm (12in) above ground level.Planting Time:March - OctoberFlowering Time:July - SeptemberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire.
