Acer Shirasawanum 'Jordan' - Single Potted Plant
  • £29.99

This product is offered for sale for home delivery exclusively via our website only. The images represent established plants, the supplied product may be younger. All heights listed are approximate and fully established plant heights may vary. The amount of foliage, buds or bloom on the plant will depend on what part of the season the product is purchased. Please see description below for full product details. Also known as the ‘Golden Full Moon’ Maple, Acer shirasawanum 'Jordan' is a slow-growing beauty with stunning, uniquely coloured, fan-shaped leaves. Starting with buttery-yellow leaves in the spring, in summer the tree's foliage transforms into a display of bright yellow/lime, before its leaves complete their transition to golden orange with red margins in the autumn. Small crimson flowers appear in summer as the tree matures, contrasting beautifully with the butter-yellow leaves. Perfect for any garden, it is easy to grow and very hardy even in the coldest parts of the UK. Suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience, you can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come. With a bushy, spreading habit, this golden Japanese Maple will reach around 4m x 4m metres in 20 years and thrives in moist, well-drained soil in dappled shade (although will also be fine in full sun if kept regularly watered).Supplied as a 3L potted plant approx. 40-50cm tall, ready for immediate potting on or planting out.Top Tips- Leaf colour is best in partial shade, although full sun can be tolerated. Leaf scorch can be caused by lack of soil moisture or excessive exposure.Care GuidePlanting Advice for your Acer shirasawanum 'Jordan':- If your soil is slightly acidic, then you have the perfect conditions to grow Japanese maples - however do not worry if you have not as most can be grown in other soils as long as they are not wet, dry or very alkaline.- If growing in a pot, use a 50/50 mix of ericaceous and multipurpose compost if you can - although again don't worry overly about this.- If planting in the garden, prepare a wide hole and loosen the soil with a fork, incorporating organic matter as needed to improve moisture retention and condition.- Plant your Acer so that the top of the root ball is just slightly below ground level.- Fill the planting hole with soil and heel well in. Water well.Aftercare advice for your Acer shirasawanum:- Leaf colour is best in partial shade, although full sun can be tolerated as long as the plant is well watered.- Avoid exposed places as leaves can suffer with windburn (scorch), especially if the plant is dry.- Allow your Japanese Maple to get used to a whole day in the sun by starting it off in the shade, then standing it in its final sunny spot (in pot or in the garden soil) for one hour longer every day for a week.- Water regularly and deeply.- Feed with our specialist Acer feed.- Mulch every couple of years with well-rotted garden compost or well-rotted manure or leaf mould.Pruning advice for your Acer 'Jordan':- Acers generally do not need pruning, just remove any branches that are dead or damaged.Planting Time:March - OctoberFlowering Time:AprilAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. Lilac Syringa Palibin Standard
  • £29.99

This product is offered for sale for home delivery exclusively via our website only. The images represent established plants, the supplied product may be younger. All heights listed are approximate and fully established plant heights may vary. The amount of foliage, buds or bloom on the plant will depend on what part of the season the product is purchased. Please see description below for full product details.A stunning addition to add to your patio, this fantastic new dwarf Lilac is just the thing for small gardens or for sprucing up patios and decking areas in a large pot! Ideal for adding colour, fragrance and a beautiful twist on other Lilac varieties that can often take over your garden, this ‘double flowering’, compact lilac will bloom first in May, flush through summer, then reach a second crescendo of colour in September. Because Palibin is a dwarf variety of the classic lilac, it won’t take over your beds and borders and will not grow too tall meaning you can really enjoy the beautiful flowers and fragrance with very little maintenance required. A deadheading of faded flowers will keep the lilac flowering for as long as possible, and there’ll be little to no pruning needed thanks to its dwarf and compact nature. It’s slow growing, easy to care for, perfect for pots and very hardy too - why not try growing as a fragrant flowering hedge for something a little bit different?!This plant has been skilfully fashioned into an impressive standard by the grower and will make an instant specimen in your garden. Height 80-100cm (33-36in).Top Tips- Pot-grown shrubs can be planted at any time of the year as long as the soil is not waterlogged or frozen. If in doubt, err towards spring but remember to keep pots well-watered so that the soil does not dry out.Care Guide- Grow lilac plants in fertile, well drained soil in full sun.- Palibin standards can be grown in containers if you wish using a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3.- Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established.- Lilac can be pruned in winter or spring by removing any damaged, diseased or misplaced stems before lightly shaping to retain the standard form and height. In mid-summer, faded flowers can be removed from the plants.- After pruning, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost to the base of the lilac.- To Plant- Shrub roots generally tend to spread out rather than down, so dig a planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting, and mix some well rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill one the shrub is in place.- We've found that a square hole is better than a round one as the new roots, once they reach the edges tend to grow in a circle round the circumference of the hole whereas when they reach the corners of a square hole, they find it easier to grow through.- Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain.- Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.- Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.- Place your shrub in the hole at the same level at the pot.- Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).- Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball.- Water well.- Mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark etc.Planting Time:All yearFlowering Time:May - SeptemberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. Acacia Mimosa Standard

The canary-yellow blooms of the Flowering Mimosa Tree are a spectacular sight from January to April every year, where hundreds of bobbly yellow blooms smother the branches of the Mimosa tree in a lemon haze, almost hiding the stunning grey green filigree foliage that makes this tree a handsome year round feature in the garden. Set among a ball of fern-like leaves on a standard stem, the eye-catching pom-pom blooms not only look a picture but carry a heavenly fragrance and provide a valuable nectar source for friendly insects that emerge in milder weather. Widely seen across southern Europe, this variety will thrive outdoors in most of the UK too and is a great plant for conservatories or sunny corners of a room indoors in regions prone to severe frost - altogether a super tree to own! It's a great choice for a large container too producing a really unique feature tree and if you buy a pair you can frame doorways and entrances.Care GuidePlanting Advice for Mimosa:- Grow mimosa in a sunny, sheltered site in well-drained, neutral to acid soil. Protect from frost and winds.- Best planted in the spring, after all danger of frosts has passed, so that new wood is given the longest possible ripening period before its first winter.- If you garden in an exposed or frost-prone area, then Mimosa is best grown in a large pot where it will make a great conservatory plant and should be watered only occasionally over winter.- Dig a planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once the shrub is in place.- Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain.- Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.- Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.- Place your shrub in the hole at the same level at the pot and refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).- Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball and water well.- Mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark etc.- If you're planting into pots, place some old rocks, stones or gravel in the bottom of the pot for drainage and ballast.- Use the best ericaceous compost you can buy and some sand or grit for drainage. Aftercare Advice for Mimosa:- Hardy to -10°C you'll need to provide shelter from the worst of the winter weather as Mimosa does not like the cold.- If damaged by cold weather, it should regrow from the base as a multi-stem, which is ideal if planted in a small garden as it will restrict its growth.- All new growth is more susceptible to damage from cold weather, so provide adequate frost protection for the first two years to help it survive. Pruning Advice for Mimosa:- Pruning is not necessary apart from to remove any branches that are dead or damaged. Remove any shoots that appear along the stem to keep it clean.Planting Time:February - NovemberFlowering Time:March - MayAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. Use the same pot if you want to keep it at its current size, or up to 5cm (2in) bigger is you would like to grow it on a bit more.- Remove the plant from its pot and trim off any rotten roots or roots that are winding around the outside of the root ball.- Cut away the bottom one-third of the root ball using a pruning saw and replant using fresh potting soil or compost.Planting Time:February - AprilFlowering Time:April - JuneAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire.

We are constantly on the lookout for great garden plants, which are easy to grow and make a great addition to any garden - these fabulous Photinia tick both boxes. 'Little Red Robin' is quite a new cultivar with smaller leaves, giving an even bolder and brighter red glow as the new leaves emerge and throughout the summer. What's more, in this stylish lollipop standard form, it's even more of a year-round focal point and feature too. Skilfully crafted over 4 years, this unusual format adds height to any garden, and yet is easy to maintain with a simple trim to shape each autumn. Grow in full sun for best red foliage colour and it will glow on those long summer nights. Whilst it will fade to darker green somewhat over winter, it retains a mix of red tones all year. Great for year round evergreen use(it should be ever-red!), they work well in pairs in large pots either side of doorways, gates and porches, or as a single focal point in a formal bed.Planting Time:January - JuneSeptember - NovemberFruiting Time:October - DecemberAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire. Swiss Cheese Indoor Plant Monstera Deliciosa 80-85cm Tall In 4L Pot
  • £29.99

The Swiss Cheese Plant, Monstera Deliciosa, is an ever popular and easy to grow houseplant that has inspired generations of indoor gardeners. With glossy, rich green leaves with irregular holes, the plants will trail gently over their pot if left untrained or can be treated as a climber and tied to a support. The glossy, tropical leaves are what makes this plant a star, easily adding a lush, exotic feel to any room. It's fascinating to watch the young leaves as they emerge tightly furled, growing longer each day before opening fully. Young leaves are solid, but as the plant matures they begin to develop the characteristic holes. Naturally a lazy climber, your plant will enjoy the support of a moss pole (not supplied) where you can push its aerial roots into the moss as they develop, helping to support it as it grows. A native of tropical rainforests, Monstera is a houseplant that is easy to keep happy. We recommend that you place it in bright but not direct sunlight indoors and mist the leaves regularly to provide humidity. They love a leaf-wipe now and again to remove dust and restore that glossy sheen. Supplied as an established plant in a 20cm pot, approx. 80-85cm tall. As with all houseplants, keep away from children and pets and take care when handling. Please note that the decorative pot is not included.Care GuideBest grown in indirect sunlight in an average room temperature - avoid large temperature fluctuations. Water regularly and allow the soil to dry a bit between watering. Feed once a month with a general-purpose liquid houseplant feed. Mist leaves to maintain humidity. Clean leaves regularly with a damp cloth. Do not place in direct sunlight, as this will scorch and yellow the leaves. Keep out of darker areas as growth will be spindly and new leaves will lose their holes and cuts. The leaves of Monstera Deliciosa are toxic so keep away from pets and children. This product is offered for sale for home delivery exclusively via our website only. Dragon Tree Dracaena Marginata 3 Stem Plant 21cm Pot
  • £29.99

Looking very much like a palm tree in miniature, Dracaena Marginata (also known as the Madagascar dragon tree) is an evergreen shrub with a crown of long, sword-shaped, dark green leaves, finely edged with reddish-brown. A superb, low-maintenance houseplant with few problems. Holder of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, so you can be sure that it is a tried and tested winner, Dracaena is an easy-to-grow indoor plant which thrives with little care. A super choice for those of us new to growing houseplants! Dragon trees need a bright position like a light windowsill out of direct sunlight, and away from artificial heat sources such as radiators. They are slow growing, taking around 10 years to get to 5ft in height, so won't overtake your home. As well as being super-easy to grow, Dracaena is well known for helping keep the air in your home clean as it filters out pollutants keeping it fresh and clean. According to NASA this plant can remove formaldehyde, xylene, and toluene which are found in furniture, fireplace smoke, and common household products. Supplied as a three-stemmed plant (45/15/10cm) in a 21cm pot. Please note that the decorative pot is not included.Care GuideFeed the plant with a liquid houseplant fertilizer every two weeks in spring and summer. Repot every two years into a pot one size larger until plants reach the desired height. After that, repot every three years into the same pot to refresh the soil. Control your plant's height by cutting off the top when needed. The stem will look a bit bare for a while, but within a few weeks, new shoots will appear and the leaves will regrow. This product is offered for sale for home delivery exclusively via our website only. Totally winter hardy and perennial, so you can enjoy them year-after-year . for decades! Supplied as already established potted plants in 9cm square pots. In your collection - Magnolia Stellata Breathe in deeply. The large white flowers that burst out of the silky, silvery buds that cover the bare branches of the aptly named Star Magnolia during March and April are deliciously fragrant. Slow-growing and compact (3m (10ft) in height and 4m (12ft) across) this plant will thrive in most soils. - Magnolia x Soulangeana One of the most popular magnolias you can grow thanks to a succession of huge, tulip-shaped pinky white flowers that smother the branches of this shrub in mid to late spring. They are shown off to great perfection on the spreading bush as they appear before its dark green leaves. Eventually reaching 6m (20ft) by 6m (20ft) wide, it can be pruned to keep within an allotted area. It prefers acidic soil or pots filled with ericaceous compost. - Magnolia Betty A perfect specimen for a small garden, this medium-sized magnolia boasts narrow, goblet shaped flowers that appear from near purple buds with a creamy white centre in April. Measuring almost 15cm (6in) across, each deep pink bloom packs a heady scent. It does best in slightly acidic soil or can be planted in containers of ericaceous compost. This upright shrub will grow to 4m (12ft) high by 3m (10ft) across.Top Tips- Your Magnolias require little pruning other than to maintain their shape and remove damaged or crossing stems. Do this as soon as possible after flowering to keep the flower buds for the following year.- When planting, choose your site carefully as magnolias dislike being moved.- Magnolia plants establish quicker when their roots are shaded so apply a mulch of rotted bark chips, manure or garden compost after planting, taking care not to mound it around the stem of the plant.Care Guide- Plant magnolias in a sunny or semi shaded position with protection from cold winds and spring frosts.- Magnolias prefer a rich, moist, well drained, acid to neutral soil so incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost to improve the soil prior to planting.- To plant, water your potted plant well.- Dig a hole a little deeper and 3 x wider than the nursery pot.- Add a soil conditioner such as well-rotted manure to the earth removed from the hole if necessary.- Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.- Place your plant in the hole at the same level at the pot.- Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).- Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball.- Water well and mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark etc.Planting Time:All yearFlowering Time:April - MayAbout You GardenEstablished for over 50 years, our award winning trusted plant supplier are based in South Lincolnshire.
