A super hardy houseplant that is great for new plant parents. Pretty variegated green and yellow leaves, it will grow long vines so looks great on shelves or as a hanging plant. Light and Water This beautiful plant will tolerate a range of light conditions, including lower indirect light areas, but thrives in moderate sunlight and bright light indoors. So, experiment with different locations in your house and remember the paler it’s leaves the more light it needs. Bright light will help promote and enhance the beautiful yellow variegation in the leaves. A very hardy and easy to care for houseplant. In fact, it is almost impossible to kill it and will remain green even when kept in the dark. Water when you feel the top two inches of the soil is dry, if you see browning water more regularly. Let the soil dry out completely before watering again.
A striking and beautiful houseplant, Alocasia Amazonica is a robust evergreen perennial with dark green, narrowly arrow-shaped, wavy-edged leaves, growing up to 2 ft. long (60 cm). When grown in preferred conditions and given proper care, this hybrid Alocasia will grace your indoors with its lush growth and distinctly coloured leaves for years to come. Light and Water For the best performance and for the foliage to retain its deep green colouring, it is best to situate your Alocasia Amazonica in a location that receives bright indirect light. If you live in an area where the temperatures and light conditions are not intense can place it in a location that receives direct sunlight. If placed in a location lacking enough light the plant loses its colour, including the leaf veins and can eventually die. Even when placed in a location that receives a medium amount of light, the plant won’t be happy and won’t produce the best growth and leaf coloration as when placed in a brighter location. So, experiment on locations and keep an eye of its health and change locations where necessary. As with most tropical plants, maintain evenly moist but not soggy soil during the growing season, watering when the surface begins to dry. Reduce watering significantly in winter.
Ficus Benjamina ‘Anastasia’ is also known as the 'Weeping Fig'. This is a beautiful classic indoor plant ideal for the house or office being prized for its many glossy dark variegated foliage. As a bonus it also filters toxins purifying the air! Light and Water This ornamental tree is very adaptable in terms of light; soil and weather growing with minimal care both in-doors and out in warm climates. It will tolerate lower light, but prefers bright, indirect light, and just asks that it not be allowed to dry out. Try rotating it once a week so it grows towards the light and keeps straight. You can also encourage it to grow more strongly by giving it a feed with plant fertiliser once a month in spring and summer. Water the soil to keep it moist but not soggy, allow the top two inches of the soil to dry out before watering again to maintain its ideal wetness. Mist regularly to keep the leaves healthy and green as this is the plant can also absorb moisture through their leaves.
Juncus ‘Pencil Grass’ originates from Africa. It is suitable for home and garden, and a great addition along a pond edge. Very graceful plant with deep green round grass stalks. While these exotic plants look hard to grow, they’re fairly easy to grow indoors and out! Indoors, use juncus to add flair to your desk at work or school, or as a dramatic accent in your kitchen, living room, or den. Its grey-green leaves are a lovely neutral colour, making it work with just about any interior colour scheme. Outdoors, Juncus is perfect for garden beds and borders, as well as adding fantastic texture to container gardens. Light and Water If the roots are able to sit in shallow water, it can tolerate full sun, but partial shade is ideal for this plant when it is displayed indoors. Because this is a marginal aquatic plant, soil should always be kept moist, Water the plant liberally as it likes moist soil. In fact, it's tough to overwater this unusual houseplant! Juncus appreciates fertilizer once or twice a year. You can use any houseplant fertilizer, following the directions on the product packaging. Outdoors, grow juncus in sun or shade. It does best in evenly moist or even wet soil. While it doesn't require fertilizer outdoors, you can fertilize juncus with any general-purpose fertilizer. Follow the directions on the product packaging. Pruning typically isn't necessary. To ensure constantly moist soil, pots that have drain-age may be partially submerged into another container filled with water, replicating the bog-like conditions in which this plant naturally grows.
Cordyline ‘Mambo’ is a wonderfully colourful tropical foliage plant, with lovely glossy maroon tinged leaves that branch off a central stem. They form in a manner similar to Dracaena (they are both members of the same family), with their lower leaves dying to encourage new growth as the plant develops, so some light pruning will be needed throughout the year. Just tug at the dying leaves when they looked withered or brown, they should pull easily if it is their time to go. Cordyline's are great plants which brighten up any corner of a room or an office environment. Light and Water For best results, this plant requires free draining medium fertile soil and placed in a partial sun position, avoid direct sunlight. The plant does like light, but not strong, midday sunshine. In summer you can water freely and feed weekly but in winter water sparingly. This tropical plant needs very high humidity. That is why we spray the leaves at least once per week. This prevents the leaf edges from drying out. Always keep the potting soil moist, without letting the plant stand in water.

A stunning plant variety has dark glossy green leaves with pinstriped pink overtone patterning to their purple undersides. This plant is also a great for air purifying. Light and Water As with most variegated plants, Calathea need plenty of diffused light however direct sunlight will cause the leaves to fade and lose their markings. They can tolerate some degree of shade, but the better the light con-ditions, the more you will be rewarded by fine foliage. Experiment in your home to find the perfect spot for your plant. To keep a prayer plant happy, make sure you don’t let its soil dry out. Check it at least once a week and wa-ter it when the top two inches of soil feel dry. It will also benefit from feeding once a month in spring and summer. High humidity levels are a must. Stand on a wet pebble tray to improve humidity and mist frequent-ly. Pop it in the shower room or kitchen from time to time to give an extra boost.
This variety of the Chinese Evergreen comes with beautiful white to dark green variegated leaves. With large air purifying leaves, it’s one of the lowest maintenance, indoor perennials. With a slow growth, this plant has a long lifespan. It’s a great plant for beginners to look after, it will survive in most light conditions. Light and Water Keep from anywhere from low light/shaded light to bright indirect light. Direct sunlight will scorch the leaves and develop brown spots. Similarly, too much shade can cause to lose its variegation on the leaves. This plant is easy to care for. Always keep the soil slightly moist. The soil can be allowed to dry out for short periods. Occasional dusting of the leaves with a damp cloth to prevent build up. Occasional misting will also prevent brown tips.
Commonly known as the “Prickly Pear” cactus, this a decorative variety of Opuntia which produces the edi-ble oval-shaped yellow-red fruit. Opuntia family of cacti are known for their unusual shapes and this one is no exception. With large thorny pads and oval bulbus fruits, this is one of the more alien-looking plants in our collection. Light and Water The plant likes a sunny position and can be placed outdoors in the summer to receive more heat. However hardy this plant is, it is not suitable for UK climates. In winter, the plant likes it dry and cool, so you should bring this plant indoors during winter, or keep it indoors all year round near a sunny windowsill. It prefers di-rect sunlight to indirect light. Prickly pears are extremely drought tolerant. During the growing season don’t water newly propagated pads for the first month. After that, water every two to four weeks for the first year — twice a month in summer and once a month other times of the year/ Prickly pears prefer alkaline to neutral soil if you need to repot them. More importantly, the soil needs to drain well, as residual moisture or puddling can cause the plant to rot.
Originally from South America, the Peperomia Angulata (sometimes called Radiator Plants) is a beautiful hanging plant with light green leaves and attractive lighter green stripes on creeping stems. The red stems add further interest and the plant looks fantastic left to creep along a shelf or trail from a hanging planter. It has a compact, spreading nature and is particularly suited to growing in low or fluorescent light, making it perfect for offices and shady spots. They are fairly slow growing plants, so you watch them creep along your room for the years to come. Light and Water Peperomia Angulata are fine in moderate light conditions and will tolerate shade. Avoid direct sunlight. They do well under fluorescent lights, making them ideal for the office or basement flat. Water when the soil has almost dried out, Radiator Plants don’t like to be over-watered. Water from below by placing the plant in a dish or pool of water until full saturated. Water is stored in the leaves making these plants drought resistant. Peperomia enjoy raised humidity levels but most of the time they do just fine in normal household conditions.

This plant can grow in a wide range of conditions. Light and Water These hardy plants can grow in a variety of conditions and suffer few problems. Keep them anywhere from low to bright light settings but avoid direct sunlight during summer to avoid over drying the soil which can lead to brown tips. Water when the soil feels dry to touch and ensure it drains fully before watering again.
While its common name is Madagascar Palm, this is not actually a true palm but a but a succulent plant na-tive to South Africa and the island of Madagascar. The plant produces a single spiny trunk topped by a spray of long narrow leaves that give it the appearance of a small palm tree. Very decorative with a unique, sculpture-like appeal when grown as a single specimen indoors. Low-maintenance and an excellent choice for anyone new to growing houseplants making it a perfect quirky gift! It may not be the most popular plant to stumble across in the average nursery or garden shop, but for anyone who likes a unique easy-going indoor succulent, this could be your perfect match. Light and Water This is a sun-loving houseplant so always pick the sunniest spot you have. They'll still do pretty well in bright conditions, but anything considered "medium" light or lower should be avoided. These plants put out almost all of their new growth during the Summer. So, in theory, you could bring your plant indoors to a slightly lower lit location over late fall, winter and early spring before moving it outside to a sunny spot. If you want a thriving Pachypodium water yours liberally in the Summer months whenever the soil dries out. In Winter you should cut back to prevent the roots rotting in the cooler conditions, instead only water sparingly. Perhaps once or twice a month at most.
