Sometimes called the “Bunny Ear” Cactus due to its multi branching growths or the “Blind Prickly Pear”. This is a popular beginner cactus as it is easy to grow if a you can provide enough bright light, no over-watering, provide its winter resting period and average room temperatures. In short, keep it by a window and don’t water it for half a year. Simple! Light and Water This plant requires full light for growing for most of the year, except during the winter cycle. For the plant's health, light should be reduced to partial sun during this time. This Cactus is a desert species. It should be given water on a regular basis during its first season in a new pot. This will help it to create a strong root system. The soil should be kept moist, but not soggy. After the first season, more sporadic watering is required. During the winter cycle, the cactus should not be watered at all, with watering to resume in the early spring.
Common names for this plant include Trailing Jade or Jade Necklace, for its wonderfully green cascading stems and fleshy leaves. With masses of stems, they overlap and trail beautifully over each other forming a long trail of vivid green, a welcome addition to any space. However, unlike succulents they thrive on moisture and tropical temperatures, so perfect for a bathroom or placed up high. Light and Water These Peperomia like to avoid direct bright sunlight. Keep in a bright room with indirect sunlight. A small amount of morning or evening sun won't harm, but midday sun could scorch the leaves and harm the plant. Overwatering is the worst offender for most Peperomias including this species. This is because of its succulent nature and small roots. Allow the soil to become dry then water thoroughly. Water when soil is dry, usu-ally every 1-2 weeks and do not let the plant stand in water. During the winter reduce watering to a minimum. Better too little than too much. During the summer mist the leaves. As the plant does prefer high humidity, grouping it together with other plants is a good idea. This will increase humidity within the area. If dry air problems occur - make efforts to improve the humidity, but most will be fine with normal indoor humidity levels.
A beautiful flowering plant rich and deep in colour. The Campanula covers ground quickly and is ideal growing along edges of balconies, terraces or gardens. They grow and spread out over the years offering longevity and filling up empty spaces in your home with bursts of colour. These fast-growing plants have a natural creeping habit which means they will spread quickly and form a neat, compact habit. Also known as the Bellflower plant, they are easy to care for and low maintenance is required. They also provide nectar and pollen for bees during their flowering season (summer) and mix well with other plants and can even grow in rocky terrains. Light and Water They require full sun for best flower production, and well-drained soil with moderate moisture. Once established, bellflower plants can tolerate periods of drought. Soil conditions for growing bellflowers can be any pH range, including highly acidic. Caring for Campanulas does not require any expertise. As with most perennials, they are hardy plants that tolerate quite a lot of extreme weather and arid conditions. Campanula care includes deadheading to promote more blooms and a longer lasting display. You can also cut it down to the ground in late winter to early spring to rejuvenate the plant. Keep the soil moist when flowering so you may have to water more regularly. In general, when the top two inches of the soil feel dry, water thoroughly and allow it to drain.

A graceful and attractive palm, with closely growing upright stems and long arching linear leaves that will create a handsome focal point in any room. Still one of the most popular houseplants and it is easy to see why as it is so versatile and easy to look after. This palm does best in warm, humid conditions. A popular houseplant, the Areca palm is fairly easy to care for as long as you don’t over-water it. Although it is a heavy feeder, its fronds may yellow if it is over-fertilized. Don’t be alarmed about sooty flecks that develop on the palm’s sheaths as they occur naturally and are not a sign of disease or pests. Light and Water Although they like a warm atmosphere don't place it near a radiator or heat source and choose a brightly lit spot but not in direct sun. A bright indirect light spot will suit it best. Water regularly through the growing season with soft water, or rainwater but let the surface of the soil dry out slightly before watering again. Reduce watering through the winter months. These plants need humidity so mist the leaves regularly or stand on a tray of damp pebbles with some water. Lastly wipe of any dust from the palm fronds/leaves from time to time and trim off fronds/leaves if they yellow and dry out.
The Turtle Vine is a cute little trailing vine adorned with small round ‘turtle’ like leaves running along the length. Not to be confused with the similarly named “String of turtles” or Peperomia Prostrata, this vine is a cascading low-growing plant and has a lot more foliage which is densely packed. It grows quickly and is fairly hardy, needing monitoring when it comes to their water level. Light and Water Bright indirect light is best, avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun, especially in the summer. Always maintain evenly moist soil and average room humidity is acceptable. If you see any signs of dehydration, introduce more humidity with regular misting or a water tray. The Turtle vine loves moist soil - once the pot begins to feel light when lifted, it's time for another water. Under-watering symptoms include crispy/curling leaves, a grey, washed-out appearance, yellowing leaves and a lack of new growth. These issues are commonly down to either too much heat/light forgetfulness. Dehydration is the number one issue among growers, so always keep an eye out for drying soil. Over-watering symptoms, on the other hand, include yellowing lower leaves, little to no growth and a rotting stem or leaves. Never allow your plat to endure long periods of soggy soil or a dark location as both will significantly increase the chance of over-watering and death.

The Parlour Palm was popular with the Victorians being display in their parlour rooms when entertaining guests (hence their common name) and remains a firm favourite to this day. An elegant plant, easy to look after, with excellent air purifying qualities. They are undemanding in terms of light, water, temperature, humidity and feed, making them perfect for those of us that like low-maintenance plants. With their bright green leaves on clusters of long slender arching stems, this plant is a classic indoor favourite. Light and Water They are shade tolerant and brighter, indirect sunlight will encourage flowering. They can also tolerate some dry, indoor air, but does better with a little extra humidity and will appreciate the occasional misting with lukewarm water. This will also help keep the leaves free of dust. Brown leaf tips are an indication that the plant is not getting enough humidity.
